mephisto (1304) - TAIWAN - JUL 19, 2017bottled, on a work trip to SF. Had a long hard day and really needed a drink and got this. a little disappointed but needed the alcohol.
kaser (6480) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 31, 2014Black pour from 22oz bottle. More like a sour than a porter. Very sweet and grapy fruity taste. This had to be bottled wrong. Tastes nothing like a porter or anything smoked.
Beergeek23322 (2603) - Chester, Virginia, USA - JAN 3, 20143/20/2013. 22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Sweet oaky aromas with roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoke. Good balance, dark fruit, caramel and malty flavors with a bitter finish that goes well with the bourbon.
fidemaster (336) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - SEP 27, 2013Rich dark brown color. It has a sweet roasted caramel, and vanilla aroma. It had a nice complex flavor. It starts out with creamy, malty, flavor with caramel, and vanilla. It has that rich oak flavor of a good bourbon. It has a smooth clean finish on your palate. Really a nice beer.
Jade (434) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 12, 2013Light cola colour, thin beige head. Chocolate and roasted nut aroma. Tangy coffee, a bit thin. It’s actually not bad - I’m just not sure it’s a Porter.
marcus (11161) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUN 7, 2013Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a massive tan head and a smoky dark fruit aroma. There is a slightly sour fruity dark malt flavor with a dry smoky finish. There is a hint of bourbon, but I think the sourness may be a mistake. Nevertheless, it is worth trying.
bhensonb (16389) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 4, 2013Capped 750 from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a creamy/foamy tan head. Aroma is primarily chocolate, but there’s a touch of booze. Med body. Ale is just a bit towards sour. There’s a chocolate base, certainly some heat, and with time some bourbon and oak. I’m thinking some beastie got into the barrel and did the nasty. More lactic than brett - but something related. Probably the best thing that could have happened to the beer. Finishing nicely towards sour. Hope others get lucky! Enjoying this.
jbruner (5828) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUN 2, 2013Pours an opaque black from the bottle with bubbly tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lacing. Aroma of smoky sour soy, sweet vanilla and bourbon in the middle, with a chocolate ending. Taste follows with a nice bba flavor, chocolate, wood, and vanilla, no real smokiness though. Thin on the mouth and bubbly, but to be expected for the style. I actually really like this.
crossovert (14467) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 28, 2013Thin, infected, slightly bourbonny, a mess of a beer that is completely over priced.
nick76 (4407) - Tampa, Florida, USA - APR 20, 2013The aroma is boozy with bourbon, wood, malt, and a touch of earth. The appearance is red brown with a tan head. The taste is sour so it destroys the aroma elements. The palate is typical. Overall a bust.
