Pours a hazy garnet coloring, bold like a new copper penny. Has some great fruit undertones, and lots of citrus peel in the nose. Comes across very hoppy on the palate, with lots of resin and grapefruit, nice use of simcoe, and some biscuity caramel maltiness. A really well done NW style IIPA. Hazy but vibrant golden-red. Abundant tropical fruit nose (mango, grapefruit) with light orange and wood notes. Really rich...massive resiny, woody hops with grapefruit, mango and lemon signature and a healthy dose of earthy, breadcrusty crystal malts. Drinks pretty easy for 9.6%, no wonder that growler got me tipsy. Dartagnan (13) - Oregon, USA - JUL 13, 2007
I didn’t notice too much hop aroma but after one sip the hops hit you hard. Extremely hoppy and intense carbonation. The IPA was everything you’d expect from the name. Angeloregon (2055) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 2, 2007
Poured on tap at Belmont Station. Glowing orange copper body with frizzy white dome. Nose quite spicy and floral. Big bitter bite. Left some of my taste buds in tact. Very nice over the top hop appeal. Nothing to bitch about here. bhensonb (15191) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 9, 2007
Strong hop aroma. Perhaps a combo of floral and pine. Possibly citrus lurks. Really nice smell. Very hazy deep amber color with a white head that quickly filmed. The hop flavor is strong and mixed, at the start. I vote for pine and floral. Light carbonation. Full bodied. Good malt backbone. Dry, bitter finish. Leaves the mouth redolent of pine. Perhaps a bit of citrus sour at the back of the mouth.

On tap at Belmont Station: Pours with a 1 finger diminishing white head and a muddy orange color. Good aroma of complex citrus fruits and some floral notes. Flavor is malty and bitter with some grapefuity character. Very clean bitterness and fairly balanced but definitely hop forward. HopDevil1979 (117) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAY 4, 2007
On tap. Light amber color, huge hoppy nose. Dry on the palate with mega flavor. This is a refreshing I2 that would be great on a hot day. Sit boo boo, sit. Good bitch. AstoriaJerry (8) - Astoria, Oregon, USA - AUG 15, 2006 does not count
Notably dark for an IPA, even an imperial. The color is saturated saffron, the head is pillow soft, and the aroma is herbaceous, unrelenting, and floats through the air with a piney/floral sweetness. The bittering kicks with blackbelt authority.
This is an ambitious beer with good intentions and excellent delivery. It is a smooth drinking ale with affirmed integrity, a feathery mouthfeel, and wide, plastered lace. Above all, smooth.
Highly recommended. beermaker (2) - portland, Oregon, USA - AUG 4, 2006 does not count
Great Beer, I am impressed with the flavor. Not over-powering for an imperial. Nice head with lacing. So good I took a growler with me for later! bob4beer (4) - Huntington Beach, California, USA - MAY 18, 2006 does not count
I loved this beer. Not only is it an interesting IPA but the overall front to back flavors in the mouth are not overpowering. Though I thought that it was a high alcohol brew I did not detect it from the taste.
