3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ruby red in color with an eggshell head and decent lacing. This one is interesting; nutty, chewy, roasted malt. The alcohol in this definitely more noticeable but not to it’s detriment. Caramel, toffee, brown sugar...good.
"Nutty? Aroma? Leat hery?" That’s what I wrote down when trying this beer. Sampled at the downtown Astoria tap room. beechner224 (1024) - Melbourne, Florida, USA - MAY 24, 2015
Deep Amber color. White head. Super malty toffee aroma, all malt. Taste is malty, biscuit, toffee, mild molasses. Ferris (15901) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 2, 2015
Draft - Sweet caramel and toffee. Clear copper with a rich beige head. Orange caramel and a bit boozy with syrupy notes. mcberko (18068) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 22, 2014
On tap at Wet Dog Cafe / Astoria Brewing, pours a clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out a good mix of caramel malts and resinous hops. Flavour is on the maltier side of things, with woody caramel malts upfront, backed by a nice resinous hop potency. Well-balanced, robust and without any harsh edges. Nice stuff. Brassy-bronze, caramel head, a beautiful pour. Rye, caramel malt, and grain all intermingle, infusing the bouquet with a lovely, natural sweetness. On the palate this one manages a pleasing mix between bitter and sweet with those attributes playing off of a grainy malt backbone. The finish leans toward bitter mettallic.

Clear otange red color with pillowy off white lacing. Medium aroma that is slightly musky. Not overly sweet like some strong ales can be. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUN 25, 2011
On tap @ Astoria Brewing Co. Deep amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and light pine. Flavor is all malt, sweet and caramel with some dark fruit. Medium body with mild carbonation and a syrupy mouth feel. Not bad but a bit on the sweet side for my palate. dchmela (3074) - Orlando, Florida, USA - MAR 26, 2011
Tap at the brewpub. Light copper pour. Toffee and cherry like aroma. Thick malty body with a lingering hop bitterness in the taste. Good stuff. philbertk (1873) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 15, 2010

On tap at the brewpub. Clear copper amber, average white head. Toasty malts with hints of chocolate in the aroma, some sponge toffee in the flavour. Medium sweetness and medium bitterness. Not very memorable really.
