COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A superb porter, hearty & dark. This one is a staff favorite, made with pale, crystal, Munich, chocolate, and black malts. The darker malts give Coal its color and rich flavor. We use Target and Willamette hops to yield a very subtle hop flavor in this porter. We cellar this beer for close to six months before releasing it on the thirsty throngs of fans.

12oz bottle. Brown-amber-black body. Thin, oily head. Rich cocoa, chocolate tones. Some mild graham crack, vanilla. A pretty nice chocolate Porter. On the fuller side of medium bodied. Sort of heavy with the specialty malts, but fitting for the style I suppose. Tasty beer.

Bottle shared by Buddy. Aroma is chocolate, nut, and musky malts. Pours black with a gigantic frothy tan head. Taste is off. Burnt cardboard takes center stage with slight chocolate and nasty coffee. Very overcarbonated which made it hard to choke this down. Pretty sure this was a spoiled bottle but I leave that to future tastings to judge.

Bottle gifted to me from jcwatts or Eileen or maybe Dean?? Poured an okay looking super dark brown almost blackish body under a fizzy medium sized light beige head. Aroma of burnt toast, vanilla, slight chocolate sweetness. Fizzy carbonation with a creamy end on the mouthfeel over a medium body. Flavor of burnt toast, some old light coffee, milk. Meh nothing special here.

Very mild porter with some very light flavors. Just under flavored and way too mild for my taste. Little to no roastiness and flavor.

halfonit (1391) - Fall River, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 26, 2013
On tap at $3 Dewey’s. Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. The aroma is of coffee, notes of chocolate, malts, and caramel. The flavor is pretty smooth but bland; roasted malt, chocolate and coffee flavors. It’s relatively sweet, and goes down pretty smooth.

Nice balance of smoky up front and sweet finish. Interesting and enjoyable.

On tap in the brewery’s tasting room. Pours a clear cola brown with a thin to medium sized beige head. Toast, roast, soft roast. Chocolate and cocoa. Gently bitter on the finish.
