VTHopHead (1511) - Seymour, Tennessee, USA - JUL 5, 2010
Bottle/22oz - Pours a hazy darkish amber in color with a small light tan head that faded quickly. Aroma is light, but malty with some fruitiness. Flavor is also not strong. Malts come through strong enough (brown sugar, caramel) along some fruitiness (apricot/peach, but the malts dominate. Thin palate. Finish is slightly bitter and slightly sour at the very end. Unremarkably average...

Very minor head. Theres some streaky lace on the glass. Deep amber color with a ruby tint. Nearly clear. Nice, light caramel malty sweetness. Brown sugar initial flavor. If I were blindfolded, Id believe that I was having a Scotch Ale, but not a wee heavy. The taste profile is unusual: Brown sugar to a light hop bitterness to a raw, unmalted grain finish. The body is as expected with a low level carbonation.

22oz bottle from the brewery. Amber pour with no real head. Aroma is sweet malts with a touch of smoke. The smoke also appears in the flavor and it makes the standard-ish old ale a little more interesting.
