2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml Bottle. Brought back from Cornwall by a friend - First impression was the huge amount of sediment in the bottle. I left it stand for a couple of months and it settled to a 7mm layer at the bottom of the bottle. After carefully transporting it to the fridge I chilled and opened it.. only to be covered in the stuff. Out of the 500ml I actually got to try about 300. And as it exploded all that careful settling was for nothing. The change of clothes needed didnt impress me either. Aroma is malty toffee and citrus with the taste following suit. The flavours are quite strong and it certainly has a dry bitter finish. I completely disagree with the reviewers who said this is a standard bitter. I think it has a lot more character than most- certainly in bottles. But a good beer? Well I dont want to have to change clothes each time I open one and there are other beers suitable to my palate.
Bottle at Craig’s tasting. Sweet toffee, harsh, light honey, typical British bitter. allmyvinyl (10931) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 22, 2013
Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Aromas of toffee malt and light fruit. Taste has more of the same. Yer bog standard British bitter, basically. Lonick (2537) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 22, 2013
Not a lot if anything on the nose. Hints of malt, some fruit lemon a touch of bitter lemon, dry finish, bitter, not a great beer not a bad beer. McNeillR (2329) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 20, 2013
Cloudy amber with an off whiteish yellowed lick of ringed head. Earthy, yeasty light malt. Wee bit dry tinselly - yeasty finish. Clammy yeast. Don’t know if this was to roll out.
