Draft pour on tap at Clybourn’s Belgian Fest 2013 (Chicago, IL). Pours a deeper amber orange pour, decent haziness. Frothy offwhite head sits as a decent layer, laces ok. Aromas show a bit of sweetness, bready malts and a bit of caramel, oranges and honey. A mellow yeast, some warmth, a bit messy and sweet. Gentle hibiscus. Initial is a bit sweet and sticky, mellow to decent oxidation. Some spirit wamrth, bread and gentle orange, faint yeastiness and touches of sweetness. Middle is a bit of florals, hibiscus, and and gentle warmth. A bit thinner, a bit more clean in the middle. The backend is a bit sweet, oranges and florals, hibiscus. Spirit or ABV related warmth. Some touches of warmth, bready and sweeter malts. Odd, a bit warm, a touch of yeastiness. But at times pretty nice. An odd bag. HighWine (991) - Whalezbro, Illinois, USA - JUL 23, 2013
Tap flight at the brewpub. Honey color with a white ring atop. Hard to detect the nose other than faint Belgjan yeast sweetness. Nice lacing as the beer recedes. Taste is light honey, Belgian yeast fruitiness, and bitter hoppiness. It’s pretty hoppy for the style. A little cantaloupe flesh lingers I the palate. jstraw (1967) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 19, 2013
