Draft at Roofers Union, 11/20/16. Dark brown pour, creamy light brown head. Roasted malts, coffee, some chocolate, citrus, and earth. Malt-foward, roasty, with a solid hop presence too. Medium body, average carbonation.

Can. A DEEP mahogany pour with a smallish tan head. Resiny pine, grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, and toasted earthy grains feature in the aroma. Goes down full and smooth. Caramel and chocolate pudding upfront in the taste. Cocoa, dark chocolate, and some bitter coffee bring up the tail-end. Roasty. Earthy. The 9.2% ABV is well-hidden. Definitely leans more toward stout than IPA.

12 oz can shared by DCLawyer, thanks Jason! Canned in February 2016. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of roasty notes, licorice, light cocoa. Tastes of light floral notes, malt, roasty notes, licorice, light hops. Medium body with a dry finish. Pretty good, not as hoppy as most other black IPAs though.

Very dark brown with tan head. Malty piney aroma. Flavor is malty and roasty up front. Finish is spicy (a bit like a rye), piney and grapefruit. Very nice thanks Steve! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

kramer (6576) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 25, 2015
Dark brown, almost black body with a small frothy head. Nose is mostly roast and chocolate with some moderate citrusy hops. More IPA than porter though in flavor. Bright citrusy hops, chocolate and roast follow, lingering bitterness. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation. Decent, not the brightest though.

4oz draft at Churchkey. Pours out like a porter with a thick brown head and nice lacing. The aroma is spicy hops and some syrupy malt. Big bold malty and bitter flavor with a kick of coffee and booze in the finish. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
