4 oz. taster at Atlas. My nose has a bit of a cold tonight, but this is the first beer here where I really got a good whiff before tasting it. Thanks to the elevated alcohol content (which the beer list now shows as 8.7% instead of 10%). A nice alcohol delivery system that can sometimes overwhelm the hops. Lots of chewy malts matched to a full citrus hop note. They say grapefruit, but I didn’t see it as being that tart. Just some citrusy goodness. I would almost think this beer could hold its own against a Hopslam. kaser (6366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - SEP 20, 2012
Dark amber pour from draft at atlas. Menu says 8.5%. Thin head. Aroma of pine and mild caramel. Taste is citrus and pine with big hops and mild bitterness. Almost my wheelhouse. Goooood beer!

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a lightly hazed, deeper amber colored body with some orange tints. Finger-width, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is fruity grapefruits with a light floral and earthiness as well as a few pine resins. Light malt sweetness with a light toffee and a touch of toasty dough. Flavor is similar. Pretty sweet up front with lots of fruity grapefruits. Touches of caramel in the middle with a light earth and floral. Hint of toast comes out in the end before this finishes fruity and dry with lots of grapefruit sweetness and a touch of astringency. Some pine resins and a light alcohol warmth. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, not a bad DIPA, but lacking a lot of depth. All sorts of fruity grapefruits and a nice bitterness, but the malts could use work. Not bad for the first batch though. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 7, 2012

Draft at Atlas. Pours a deep amber-red, quite dark. Sticky white head. The nose is definitely fruity, grapefruit skinned citrus and a hit of toasty caramel and a bit of booze. On tasting, the beer itself is too big bodied and sweet, lacks the finesse needed. Also, the malt profile bleeds over into a strange darkish thing, fruity. Big bitterness here with a decent taste of citrus hops, just kind of all over the place. Fortunately, not kicked in the teeth with caramel, but still.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of citrus and earthy grapefruit with a slightly sweet grain backbone. Flavor has more bitter grapefruit with a hint of pine that mellow slightly in to citrus and sweet grain in the finish.
