Nimbus Strong Pale Ale (5.0% abv) resembles the famous Kölsch beers of Cologne: pale in colour, soft in mouthfeel, but strong in alcoholic content. Our rendition has a rich, warming hop and a memorable malt character.
A small addition of around 5% malted wheat to the grist gives this beer much of its body and softness.
The aroma is of pronounced fresh-fruit hops, together with a sweet nuttiness. On the palate this beer has a verdant, almost vegetal, hop presence. Nimbus also exhibits lovely malt character of fresh bread and almonds.
This beer has understated power: delicate, complex and more-ish despite its relative alcoholic strength.

Klar guldfärgad med ett vitt skum. Dofter av malt och citron. Smakinslag av citron, äpple, malt och gräs. Lätt beska i avslutningen.

Heidbummer (881) - SCOTLAND - FEB 5, 2017
Pint at the Safari Lounge. Pours gold, frothy head. Aroma (soft++) of honey. That sweetness continues on the taste, which is a little too sweet for me, just short of cloying. It needed something citrus or bitter to cut it a bit. OK, but just OK.

2.8
Scopey (15704) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2015
Cask at Prince of Wales, ABZ. It pours clear golden with a decent white head. The nose is sweet, toasted grain, stone fruits, apple and pear. The taste is bitter - sweet, sweet apple, pears, candied citrus fruits, toasted grass, straw, some alcohol and soap with a dry finish. Medium body and low carbonation. OK, but far from exciting.

3.4
GlasgowTAD (1898) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - AUG 28, 2015
Cask at Old Blackfriars. Pours clear golden yellow with a white head which lasts for a while. Aroma is tropical fruits with a hint of floury mix and citrus fruits. Taste is sweet citrus orange and slight mango sweetness. One-dimensional but fairly easy-going.

3.1
allmyvinyl (11019) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 6, 2014
Cask at the Standing Order. Pours clear pale gold. Thin white head. Light malt and lemon aromas, repeated on the taste. Medium body, sticky finish

3.3
Erzengel (9497) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - SEP 4, 2014
Cask. Smooth malty, fresh, slightly cloudy. Not too deep in the mainpart, grainy, fresh, slightly dry and bitter till the end.

3.2
ManVsBeer (10946) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2014
Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Golden-blond with a frothy head. Has a small and slightly dry fruity sweetness in aroma and taste.

Stuu666 (14841) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - AUG 7, 2014
Cask at SRAF. Pours golden, nose is light fruit, taste is sweet citrus, dry.

3.4
Oakes (18828) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 5, 2014
Hazy blonde. Tasty crackery, slightly toasty malt character, the alcohol becoming apparent in the finish. A little juiciness as well.

2.9
gegwilson (3800) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 25, 2014
Cask at the Beamish beer festival. An amber ale that is quite sweet and fruity at first before a more bitter finish. Something a bit vegetabley about it. Not the best.
