330 ml bottle in Oregon.
Large tan head over a hazy copper body.
Medium body and carbonation.
Fruity aroma suggests a multitude of both dark dried fruits and soft ripe fruits. plus some spices.
The nicely complex flavor largely follows but with lower spiciness. Date, fig and dried plums are all here. kraddel (8763) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 19, 2016
bottle. Best before 2003. Pours clear blonde/amber, some floaties due to the age. Smell is intense, oxidized and madeira. taste is bitter, and sharp. Surprising ! MF is thin, but the carbo is still very prominent. The madeira is there in the back, next to the residential sweetness and the oxidized malts. OK, still. Alengrin (5639) - BELGIUM - JUL 24, 2014
Tasted at a few years of age at De Kulminator in Antwerp. Apparently made with six grains, although Van Steenberge suspiciously fails to put them on the label. Creamy white head, colour a cloudy golden blonde with large and not very appetising veils of proteins, some nearly solid - an effect I’ve only encountered in old beers but fortunately only a few times. Honeyish malt in the nose, wheaty accents, bitter orange, banana, apple, grassy hops and unpleasant sourishness due to an infection. Taste grainy and a bit wheaty, fruity, a bit dusty too, again with the infected sourness which ruins the whole tasting for me - and therefore difficult to judge. I should re-rate this when I get my hands on a fresh bottle. stevoj (5441) - Boise, Idaho, USA - MAY 26, 2014
Really pleasant and smooth Belgian ale. Copper/orange in color with high fluffy head, which fades to small creamy head with lots of lacing. Aroma is malt, with lots of bread, flowers, spice, fruit and barnyard smells. Taste is more of the same, smooth and buttery. Slick mouthfeel, long finish. superspak (5894) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - APR 26, 2014
330 ml bottle into tulip glass, 11JL bottle code. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2-3 finger dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, peach, pear, apple, pepper, straw, grass, herbal, honey, bread, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast ester and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon zest, peach, pear, apple, white grape, pepper, straw, grass, herbal, honey, bread, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon zest, peach, pear, apple, white grape, pepper, straw, grass, herbal, honey, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong pale ale. All around good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at hopleaf. Pours cloudy yellow. Very sweet and almost sticky in flavor. Good, but the sugariness is almost overwhelming. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - NOV 25, 2013
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2014 Bottle: Light golden body with a touch of haziness, but rather unexpected clarity all around. Very volatile with a gigantic, off-white head. Aroma includes apple & banana esters with some white grape tartness, baked bread, & clumpy yeast. Taste follows through with more banana esters & a light grape-like, apple skin sharp astringency. Wheat, grains, & some faint clove & coriander spices show up with a bit of warmth. Mild phenol character, a touch of yeast & malty sweetness in the aftertaste. Nothing to write home about. UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Bottle. Murky light orange pour. Smaller white head. Aroma is malt, dark fruit, a little booze, and some spice. Picking up a hint of veggie soup broth as well. Carbonation is maybe a touch lacking. Slightly syrupy yet not too dense in the body. Decent enough beer, but not great. DiarmaidBHK (5722) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2013
Bottle from Total Wine Glendale. Pours golden with an inch of white foam. Leaves a lot of lacing. Not getting much on the nose. I definitely see what some are saying about bubble gum on the tongue. Finish lingers a bit. Not the best Belgian but at only $2.99 it’s good value for money. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - JUL 17, 2013
Nice orange pour with a short lived white head. Aroma is bubblegum yeast and caramel. Flavor is sweet, a bit yeasty. Kind of a bubblegum bomb, but not bad.
