Probably the most balanced ipa in japan. Resiny pine laden nose balanced out with a strong caramel and toasted nuts. Sweet and bitter. Toasty malts and caramel/toffee butt heads with herbal hoppiness. Drys tward the end finisshing with a lingering nuttiness and medicinal hoppiness.
Keg at Thrash Zone Meatballs - Yomohama. Pours unclear orange with a slim, creamy topping. The aroma holds ripening citrus, melon, oily pine, bread, mandarin orange. Medium to big sweet flavour with lots of ripe, jammy citrus, a little booze, bread, pine, mango. Full bodied, lightly carbonated, and oily and chewy. Warming and resinous to close, with further notes of ripe and jammy citrus, mango, strawberry, pale bread, moderate piney bitterness. Fun stuff, if a little heavy handed. willisread (3401) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 24, 2015
Fall Keyaki 2015. Hazy orange with a small off-white head that lingers. Big aromas of orange, grapefruit and iyokan with some faint malt. Good bitterness that hides the alcohol fairly well. Good malt sweetness on the palate with big citrus flavors. Fairly bitter finish. A very solid Imperial IPA. Not as good as Shiga’s House IPA or Y Market’s Demolition, but solid. biirusaikou (2705) - - JUL 7, 2015
Draught at Keyaki and Thrashzone. Can be an outstanding citrus hop bomb when in top shape, unfortunately recent batches seem overly boozy with notes of solvent and cardboard. Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 19, 2015
Tap at Thrash Zone, Yokohama. Murky orange. Thin head, slight lacing. Piney and strawberry jam aroma. Taste is grapefruit hoppiness and a herbal profile similar to Kernel beers back home. Plenty of malt sweetness to balance the hops. Quite drinkable. Not amongst the best but a really solid effort. Wombata (625) - Kobe, JAPAN - SEP 4, 2014
Tap at Marciero
Aroma: Orange, marmalade, dried orange and orange peel.
Flavor: Orange, passion fruit, dried fruit
Comment: Excellent. World Class. This rivals Baird’s Suruga Bay and Shiga Kogen’s House IPA as the best WIPAs made in Japan.

Tap at Lambic. Orange colour, big creamy off-white head. Aroma is skunky, cat pee, grapefruit, spiky malt, full on dipa. Taste is similar, lots of grapefruit bitterness, malt hiding behind it, but the bitterness dominates. Nice dipa, more on the citrus side than the malt side. Spiky.
