Poured from the bottle to a dark brown with a hint of ruby and a thin tan head that dissipated quickly and left little lacing. Aroma was tart cherry, with a hint of vinegar. Mouthfeel was thin and acidic, at very first trying to resemble a sour-sweet Flemmish ASour, but never getting there. Taste was more acidic tart than cherry and the finish was vinegary and unpleasant.
Looked forward to this from the name, but was truly disappointed.
Taste like someone melted a Vicks cherry cough drop in my beer.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2016 12 oz bottle of "Lip Lock Cherry Stout" (6% ABV) served in a goblet.
Clear but very dark brown body is nearly opaque in the glass. Decent head but little lacing. Aroma of toast, chocolate, and cherry syrup. Flavor follows. Lightly sweet.
Near medium body seems a touch too thin.

I got a beer from Detroit as a souvenir yesterday, yay! Made with a Michigan cherry concentrate it pours an inky black with a thin beige head.
The aroma is maraschino cherries, some cinnamon like spicing and very mild chocolate.

Light bodied with a prickly carbonation. The taste is tart black cherries, a bit of roastiness and some chocolate. A decent enough beer though the cherry flavor verges on the artificial.

Bottle shared with koleminer20, out of Dumpster Day box #1. Atwater is terrible and should just stop and go get office jobs or something. Aroma is adjunct lager, just fucking terrible, no cherry or stout qualities whatsoever, bready, sweet. Appearance is brown, light tan head, poured light, looks fucking terrible. Taste is sweet, no cherry, no roasted malt, nothing good, this is shit. Mouthfeel is intensely carbonated, light bodied, there is no way to give this beer a compliment. Overall, Atwater is terrible. There is no reason for them to continue. They give a bad name to the already weak Detroit beer scene as their flagship brewery. bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear very dark mahogany brown color, abundant 2" beige head, no lace. Taste is malt that has toasted chocolate overtones. It adds carbonation and tart sour cherry on the swallow, then turns again to a drying malt to finish. It seems like it would work well, but, in this case, the sour cherry and sweet chocolate were not meant for each other, leaving a brew that is at odds with itself. 12 oz. bottled Oct. 2015. Pour is opaque black with a spongy foam on top. Nose is vinegar, tart raspberry and a touch of earthy toffee. Flavors are the same plus some creamy lactic acid and notes of fig, banana, cinnamon, soy and charred wood. Medium body has medium carbonation and a nice funky-sour tilt. I’m sure this wasn’t intended to be a Wild/Sour but as with many of the Atwater brews I’ve had this one appears to be infected. Fortunately I caught it at the incubation stage and it appeared as a fairly tasty Sour Brown. It was complex and drinkable, but had little resemblance to a cherry stout.
