COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale has at its foundation a nutty profile with a round mouthfeel. added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet, experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.

Dark brown color, no head. Has an amazing dark chocolate smell, but the taste is underwhelming. Has a watery feel. The taste is strongly reminiscent of a weak Dr. Pepper. Palate is strongly carbonated - a little too harsh.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Slight coffee and chocolate. Loads of grain. Light, watery body. Not a fan of this one.

Amazing chocolate smell. Chocolate taste upfront with a coffee at the back. It had a good taste to it and easy drinking, but it had a thin, watery feel to it. Very light body for a stout. It is a good, easy drinking stout. Might be a gateway stout. Not that complex of a beer.

As soon as I smelled it I knew it was going to be good..a little lighter than expected but delicious..and not as potent as others in this realm so you can enjoy a few without getting too tipsy. Overall really tasty.

Bottle strangely bottled January AND March 2013 ... I dont know which, but whatever. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Appearance: Very, very deep black color, but a good amount of ruby coloring when held up to light. Two finger head goes down to a tan ring. Looks pretty good. Smell: INSANE aroma. Massive amounts of chocolate... this beer seriously smells like Cocoa Puffs. Impossible to NOT give this beer a 5. Its supposed to be chocolatey, and the smell certainly gives you that. Taste/feel: Gotta admit that Im surprised this beer only has an 82 rating. The beer is dubbed "Decadent", and it really is ... maybe not so much in the mouthfeel, but the taste and smell? Most definitely on point. Massive cocoa on the start and through the sip, but then the finish has a roasty malt characteristic to give it another dimension... I was scared that this might just taste like chocolate through-and-through. Decadents most definitely heavy on the cocoa/chocolate, but thats what I wanted. The mouthfeel is relatively thin, which is a definite bummer, but it DOES help to make the beer more drinkable. And considering its 5.5% ABV, you could enjoy two or three without feeling like youre going to fall over. Very enjoyable, and this has to be my favorite beer from Atwater, which is a brewery that tends to underwhelm me. If the feel on this one were to be a little bit creamier, and the aftertaste was more like the taste is on the front, this could be my favorite chocolate-forward stout. Regardless, a shockingly tasty beer... and the price is right.

Decent stout. Lots of milk chocolate and chocolate milk powder aromas here. Tastes like....chocolate... of the dark variety and some coffee notes too. Palate is thin.

Had this beer from a bottle. Chocolate was the word of the day with some coffee notes. the cocoa flavor dominated everything about the beer, which was a pleasant surprise as I love sweet. its an easy drinker and a superb desert beer.

bottle - pours very dark brown and smells of chocolate and roast malt. It tastes sweet with very forward chocolate flavor. The underlying stout body is pretty light. Id have preferred a bigger flavor and body there. Its alright though.

Bottle from Ale Jail, dark brown cola pour with a thin head. Aroma of dark chocolate, chocolate syrup, some brownie like aroma. Taste is a very watered down chocolate syrup flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour, deep reddish brown translucent, thin head. Fantastic cocoa aroma! Disappointingly faint taste, some chocolate and hop bitterness but not enough malts to support the flavor. Thin and fleeting finish, not great mouthfeel. I wanted to LOVE this ale, but unfortunately it did not rise to my high hopes. ---Rated whilst imbibing
