Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale has at its foundation a nutty profile with a round mouthfeel. added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet, experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.

Mittenator (1612) - Michigan, USA - JUN 29, 2013
Draft at the Lansing Beerfest. Not much else to say other than it tastes and smells exactly like a tootsie roll. Good stuff.

Chudwick (3207) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - JUN 29, 2013
12oz bottle - pours dark brown with tan head. Nose is milk chocolate with a light roast. Flavor adds the inside of a co2 container. Odd. Nice nose but the positive stops at the lips. Disappointing finish.

Bottle split with Chudwick, thanks to Chudwick. Aroma is chocolate milk or instant hot chocolate powder, that’s it. Then the palate falls off, comparable to water. Taste brings out a metallic quality.

Bottle at Ungstrup’s - Thanks. Clear dark brown - white head. High chocolate, simple cheap milk chocolate, roasted, light bitterness, caramel, dark chocolate, toffee.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a deep amber glare with a small tan head. Aroma is chocolate to nutty. Sweet, toffee, caramelish, coffee and roasted dark malty. Dry and medium bitter into a dusty chocolate finish.

Ungstrup (37583) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUN 7, 2013
Bottled. A dark red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of cocoa beans, chocolate, and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, cocoa, and straw, leading to a dry finish. Thanks pinball for sharing.

12oz bottle, from Country Fresh for $1.69. Bottled in March. Dark brown color. Little to minimal tan grayish head. Light bit of lace. Lighter to medium body. Light carbonation. Lightly dry texture. If this is supposed to be a stout, it’s a little thin. Chocolate flavor tastes slightly artificial, but I appreciate that its a distinctly darker chocolate flavoring. Moderate roast malt. Hint of coffee. Light bitter taste, moderate sweet. Overall, a pretty solid, tasty, satisfying chocolate ale. Good to enjoy with my midnight snack. I was skeptical at first, but it grew on me as I went.
