Bottle. Chocolate syrup, malt, and light ash aroma. Dark brown with large tan head. Sweet chocolate malt and mildly bitter herbal hay flavor. Nice body. Delivers on the chocolate. Beerathon (1683) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 28, 2015
This is the second beer I’ve had like this in the past month and I am not a fan. Block House’s Double Chocolate Bock was undrinkable and now this. This isn’t as bad, but it is still bad. Strange fake saccharine chocolate aroma that smells more like a gross chocolate scented candle without the warmth. Almost like cheap chocolate cake with shitty icing. I know this is harsh, but this a harsh flavored beer. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - APR 13, 2015
Dated born on date "December 2014."
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking black color with a thin layer of white to off white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds and left no lacing.
The smell was awesome as it really lived up to its name, luscious milk chocolate woven between some vanilla and escaping through slight roasty coffee tones. Big wow!
The taste seemed more tame and didn’t have as much vanilla and roast. I have to admit that there was something developing that seemed slightly acidic in the flavor. Still, a little bit of milk chocolate leads the charge into the aftertaste. There was no finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. The carbonation was pretty tame but that probably had to do with its age.
Overall, the smell has everything going for it however at the same time, I probably had this at the end of its shelf life. Still, I’d try a fresh bottle if I could find it. commonshawn (1256) - Minnesota, USA - APR 4, 2015
Bottle. Nearly black with small head. Amazing chocolate bar smell. Taste is more subtle. Malt , dry and some bitter chocolate at the end. Loved the aroma better than the taste, but still decent. rosskyle (720) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 3, 2015
12oz bottle. Dark black color with little head. overwhelming sweet chocolate aroma. Almost a scotch aroma. Nice chocolate flavor without the burnt finish. The texture is a bit more watery than expected.

Pours dark brown with nice head retention. Smells wonderful and decadent just like the name. I was expecting big rich chocolate flavors but was somewhat disappointed. The chocolate flavor didn’t live up to the aroma and the mouthfeel was a bit thin and watery. Overall it’s a good beer I was just expecting a richer mouthfeel and bolder chocolate. Pours black, with a thick tan head.
Aroma of fudge, chocolate cake.
Taste is dark chocolate malt. vanilla...
Slightly roasted, a true chocolate bomb......
Really enjoyable when you are in a chocolate mood. bnwokedi89 (106) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 7, 2015
I didn’t enjoy this beer one bit. Maybe my bottle was and expired or old brew. But whatever it was, my experience with this beer was awful. For one, this beer smells like chocolate on steroid and it overpowers all other senses. The beer has a sweet almost syrup-like taste the overwhelms. You end up tasting nothing but chocolate and very little beer. TizzleJizzle (791) - Garland, Texas, USA - FEB 28, 2015
12 oz bottle. Poured an opaque black with a thin tan head and no lacing. Singular taste of dark chocolate, with subtle hints of vanilla and chocolate malts. Boring palate; medium watery body, medium carbonation. Overall I think Atwater relied on the dark chocolate crutch far too much and could have been far more experimental and consequently brewed a more complex beer. On tap, poured into a sampler mug. The aroma is a mild chocolate and cookie dough with a lightly metallic touch late. The beer has a fizzy, unstable look with a dark, brown-red with a tan, light foam head, a light lace, and retains a thin ring. The beer is a medium sweet and a very light bitter. The beer is thin and light with a fizzy carbonation. The light body has flavors of nuts and chocolate with a finish that’s roasty with a bread character and an aftertaste that’s lightly astringent and malty.
