COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale has at its foundation a nutty profile with a round mouthfeel. added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet, experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an off white head. Chocolate, with some roast. Overall, especially on the taste and body, a bit thin.

Beers alright. Nitro from the tap. Love the look. Smells strong of milk chocolate but first taste leaves something to be desired. A little bland compared to the aroma. Finishes light almost watered down on the palate. Not bad, not great.

Transfer from BA review on 4-11-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a nearly black color with only a bit of light able to get through the brew. Upon serving there is a brown head that sits atop the brew. The head fades rather quickly leaving only a light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma on this one is quite potent and can be sensed immediately upon serving. As might be expected for a chocolate porter the aroma is big and robust of dark chocolate mixed with some aromas of coffee and roasted malt. There are lighter notes of vanilla and caramel rounding out the aroma nice with the combination producing a very dessert like and delicious smell. Taste – The taste begins, as the nose lets on, with a strong dark chocolate flavor as well as a nice roasted malt taste. While it begins big of dark chocolate it is much less sweet then what was originally expected from the nose. The flavor starts out with a little bit of sweetness with flavors of caramel and vanilla present upfront. These flavors largely persist to the end where they are joined by some lighter earthy hop tastes. Along with the hop, a rather strong coffee flavor come to the tongue bittering up the taste and melding with the rest to leave a slightly bitter and chocolaty flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the medium side in terms of it’s thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. A thicker body and lower carbonation level would have likely suited the dark chocolate flavors of the brew better. Overall – Not bad, but from the nose I was expecting much more in the taste and the feel, which it fell somewhat short of. Worth a try, but not the best out there.

Bottle. Poured into a frosted pilsner glass it yielded a dark almost black body with a medium thick head. Little to know lacing. Aroma is pure dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate with some mocha after tastes. Pretty good chocolate porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Real chocolate flavor. Rich and deep must have with some food or the beer will taste odd. Smell is immediate full of dark chocolate. Bottle

pours unclear medium dark brown with a small light beige cap showing some retention and lacing. powdery chocolate, cakey and almost artificial, vanilla, roasted malts, grass, bit of ashes and metal. moderately low carbonation, light body - oily but definitely not stout-ish, semi-sweet grassy-bland coffee finish. decadent indeed - but not in a good way. still drinkable - or kind of.

(draught) pours a slightly hazy dark ruby colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of heavy vanilla and crème brûlée, slightly resinous, with a hint of caramel, filter coffee and some light peat smoke. flavour is more vanilla, slightly sweet, with notes of herbal hops, milk chocolate, caramel and a light-bitter finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma is dark chocolate. Taste is weak and a bit disappointing when compared to the great aroma.

12oz bottle shared. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Aroma is chocolate and a very mild roasted malt. Flavor is chocolate. The chocolate hides any roasted malt flavors. Pretty one dimensional.
