Holding true to the Northern English tradition, the Decadent Dark Chocolate Ale has at its foundation a nutty profile with a round mouthfeel. added is a Chocolate Extract consisting of three blended chocolates of varied depth. The result is a rich, but not overtly sweet, experience for both the beer and the chocolate enthusiast.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2016 Bottle at Hobbit Cafe. Very very dark brown with a right cream colored head. Aroma of milk chocolate and light roast. Taste is chocolate and roast, a little more bitter than anticipated from the smell, but in any case a touch thin. Medium creamy body.

Very dark. Strong chocolate smell. Surprising watery and milky taste. After that chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!

had a small cup of this .. . smell is of heavy dark chocolate .. . light mouth and a mild empty finish, leaves some coco on the tongue .. . dark chocolate but a bit artificial .. . about what you would expect from atwater, if not a bit better .. . . and even though Im proud my father invented the rear view mirror, were not as close as we appear.

Decent chocolate ale....sort of pitches itself as a stout but sits somewhere between a porter and lighter bodied stout. Reminds me of chocolate chips prior to being baked into a cookie/cake. Not bad but I would not seek it out. Pulled from an Atwater Winter variety pack.

12 oz bottle. Pours a soda brown with a small khaki colored head that leaves some spotty lacing. Huge cocoa aroma! Smells like Hersheys chocolate syrup. Getting marshmallow in the nose too. Simply mouthwatering! Taste is a big letdown after the aroma. Good but nowhere near as big as the aroma. Pretty much only cocoa with a hint of maple syrup and toasty malts. Getting a subtle metallic taste too. Nice finish of cocoa. Palate is the killer here. Very, very thin and watery with high carbonation. In serious need of thickening. May have worked better as a milk stout or oatmeal stout.

Big thanks to Adam for gifting me this and other Michigan beers. the beer is near black (the lighting was low) with a small tan head. This beer is all about the chocolate. The scent and the flavor are rich, dark, chocolates. A hint of espresso bean, cocoa. medium bodied with a light sweetness. perhaps I was in a chocolate mood. This was delicious.

Smells like pancakes at ihop. Looks black with a weak head. Smells like chocolate and tastes like milk. These milk stouts are really wearing thin on the beer scene.

From bottle. Chocolate malted aroma, very sweet and almost fake. A little bit of maple syrup. Dark brown-black clear with thin head. Medium body and carbonation. Starts sweet with chocolate malted flavors. Nutty sweet throughout with carbonic bite. Light bitter finish.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This had some potential until I discovered it was classified as a stout. I knew it was going to be rough just based on the thin pour. The poor is very dark, on the verge of a light black. There is a thin off-white head that fades to nothing rather quickly, and no lace to be found. The aroma is all chocolate. You could smell this thing from across the room. There is a hint of coffee toward the back end, but chocolate dominates everything. The flavor is all chocolate again, but fails when compared to the aroma. No coffee this time around, all chocolate, and it's very light. The mouth feel is extraordinarily then for something that is supposed to be classified a stout. Water may even have a tad more viscosity. The aftertaste is nonexistent, and this is just very disappointing as classified a stout ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
