Draught and bottled samples at Sunset Grill, Summer 2008.
It’s stuff like this that gives blonde ales a bad name. Dirty, not in the sense that the brewers were looking for, but in the sense of unclean, with glaring brewing flaws (diacetyl, metal, a dirty yeast blandness...) and almost no malt character. Tastes like you’re chewing on a handful of dirt and wheat. Some light citrus seems out of place on the end and the beer just tastes stale, cardboard-like and nothing remotely refreshing-like. Extremely poor aroma strength, maybe a touch of vanillin and old, crusty bread. Watery mouthfeel, though somewhat ameliorated by the wheat in the grist. Horribly boring yeast lacking any character.
Color dorado (aprox.

DATE: July 15, 2017... OCCASION: playing a family-wide game of Monopoly... GLASSWARE: Ommegang Rare Vos shaker... appears a slightly hazy, light straw colored body... small, lazy bubbles formulate an off-white head that taps out quickly... light bill of lemon, wheat, and pear--slightly astringent and not offering much in the way of the promised orange peel or coriander... light,, watery, a bit oily...like a white wine spritzer without the refreshing payoff.... more like a flat cream soda... cider-like apple brisk pepper, light wheat, soft orange peel, and cracker malts keep some of the low-end appeal... this is one that tastes as I remembered it did the last time--advertising as a summer beer, but like the label’s suggestive lady, more trouble than it’s worth, and not nearly as refreshing... sad when the remainder of a six-pack presents itself as a burden... bpar73 (1199) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - APR 9, 2017
