Way too much licorice in this beer. Has a really nice appearance, tons of offwhite head, but the flavor is off. Picked this up in Grand Rapids in 2013. charule (2288) - New York, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2013

on tap at the bocktown robinson, very nice place. dark brown but not black. sweet spicey aroma. more mild initially than I thot it would be. some coffee in the but mostly there is this spice thing happening. fairly flat. better than expecting, thot it would be an impy stout but it is much more behaved. some medicinal linger on the finish. not impressed yet I was not insulted. so, I guess its an ok beer. Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/20/2013. Opaque brown-black pour with a medium khaki head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is malty and sweet with a cocoa aftertaste. Above average overall. crossovert (13747) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 17, 2013
For its abv it is a dry and roasty stout, burnt caramel notes, coffee, thinner body.

Black pour with small tan head. Strong aroma of cereal and oatmeal. Flavor of some dark chocolate and malts and cereal. Delicious finish though slightly sweet. AdamChandler (5150) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 26, 2013
Poured light black with very appealing lacing, minor head. Nose is charcoal and cocoa beans. much sweeter than expected. Some medicinal notes, cedar and sort of a chocolate milk finish. This is really drinkable. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 20, 2013
This one poured a medium brown color with a beige head. Aroma was of light chocolate, medium roast, and some metalic notes. Flavor was vanilla, chocolate, light roast, and some sort of metallic astringency. jeremytoni (3082) - Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA - MAR 14, 2013
From a bottle poured a dark black color with a good amount of head. Nice toasted malty flavor with a quick finish. Didin’t taste like 11%. TheBear11D (365) - Michigan, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Pours thick and black with little lacing. The aroma is licorice and molasses. The flavor follows suite with some coffee added. Overall this is decent, but short of expectations for an imperial stout.
