12oz bottle to pint glass. a bit more watery than expected but aroma and appearance were pluses. guzzler67 (1696) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - JAN 12, 2011
Clear, reddish brown appearance with a creamy beige head and good lacing. Caramel malts emit a nutty, butterscotch-like aroma with a touch of molassas. Sweet, malty, toffeeish flavor. Palate weakens a bit near the finish. Alcohol is well hidden and debuts only in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Not up to par with the better dopplebocks, but still an uncomplicated, easy to drink winter warmer. alobar (3885) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 8, 2011
Dark copper color with ruby tones. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and roasted malt. Caramel, dark fruit, toffee, and a hint of floral hops comprise a flavor that is quite enoyable. bth122 (1629) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 10, 2010
Poured a dark copper color. Med head. Aroma was very malty with some citrus smells. Med sweetness with lite bitterness. Med bodied. Taste was mostly malts. Maybe taste a bit of spice. JDBaker11058 (2336) - Maryland, USA - NOV 21, 2010
Appearance: medium amber brown with a HUGE fluffy, bubbly white head. Aroma: straight caramel, toasted malts, brown sugar and a good amount of funk. Taste: tangy, a little sour, and loads of malty sweetness. Finish: lingering caramel sweetness, but an unpleasant tang remains as well. Notes: Average and uninspired version of a doppelbock. Perhaps an old/skunky bottle. Couldn’t find a date anywhere.

[Bottle] Pours a caramel color with a small amount of off-white head. Aroma and taste of toffee, roasted dark malts and grains. Some cinnamon and nutmeg. Sweet and a little cloying. Buttery notes too. The alcohol is more noticeable than it should be. Messy taste with no real direction to it. I’ll likely pass on this next time. Poured into a tall glass to drink. The beer had a semi-cloudy dark amber color with bubbles and a thick creamy tan head with good retention and very good cling. It had a sweet malty aroma which featured caramel, brown sugar, and a touch of floral and grainy hops too. It had quite a sweet and rich malty taste which was somewhat fruity and floral as well, and had some banana tones. The beer was very creamy, with a smooth mouthfeel, that was wet and full, yet somewhat dry at the end. RONCOD (247) - Uledi, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 20, 2010
This was a nice copper, brown color with a thin tan head. Caramel aroma with a slightly bitter coffee taste. I could drink this again. billlmiky (20) - , New York, USA - MAR 4, 2010
bottle from the food coop. kinda sweet in the beginning but gives way to a malty ending. decent beer. Aggie80 (827) - Michigan, USA - FEB 27, 2010
Not a dark bock, but rich caramel color. Nice earthy/malty aroma with nice head and some lacing. Nice carbonation in the mouth feel with some bitterness in the aftertaste.
