Bottle. Murky reddish brown pour with a minimal head. Toffee sweetness, not a ton of body, maybe a little chocolatey. So so.
This was poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt amber color with a finger and a half’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Light lace.
The aroma centered around a nice dose of sweet black cherries, bready malts, earthy to grassy hops, some baked apples, light leather, sweet cereal grains, toast, biscuits and some red cherry jam.
The flavor leaned into the sweetness of the previously mentioned aromas. Light butterscotch and some woodiness entered for an even nicer arrangement flowing freely into the aftertaste and following extremely nice into the finish.
The feel was roughly medium bodied with a fabulous sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt on par with an ABV that felt just as good.
Overall, really nice doppelbock preferably wanting more around Winter. Slightly jealous Michiganders get this every Winter as we don’t have amazing doppelbocks in Vermont. jsmerig (1578) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 13, 2016
Pours a clear reddish Amber. Aroma of cinnamon and plum. Taste is sweet with a stiff bitterness in the finish. Smokey and a bit of spiciness.

Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI via Plum Market. Looks like dark honey. Sweet yeasty caramel aroma. Sweet, some pepper, then a sweet spice finish. vipinvelp (4366) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2015
Clear copper color, off-white lacing lasting foam head. Caramel aroma and taste, small bitter tones. Bit sweet. (Davenport 201510) BeerRenter76 (1004) - Texas, USA - JUL 13, 2015
Originally rated on 11/30/14. Pours a deep amber body, nice 2 finger head, little lacing though. Sweet caramel malts, with faint hints of dried fruits, and some spice in the aroma. Flavor is about the same as the aroma, watery caramel malts with very faint fruitiness. Overall its o.k. not much of a winter brew, but thankfully it wasnt offensive.

Not much aroma, maybe some plum or dates. Appearance is beautiful, nice dark maroon color with a thin white head. Taste is bolder than I expected. This beer is just ok. AdamChandler (4977) - Enfield, New Hampshire, USA - MAR 15, 2015
Dark brown appearance. no head. Smells a little like shoe-polish. Taste is nice. very light hops, very light, some candy taste, light sweetness and darker fruits, maybe some apple. tectactoe (3125) - Michigan, USA - MAR 7, 2015
Bottle: Red tinted, burnt orange & copper body with good clarity. Foamy khaki head settles quickly on top. Aroma of intensely sweet caramel malt; heavy, stale caramel, borderline cloying with underlying traces of red apple, prune, licorice, earthy must, & toffee. Flavor is kind of stale, too. Super malty. CaraMunich malts up the ass. Heavy caramel, dusty toffee, mild earth, apple, hint of grape. Weird tartness. Grainy, old caramel & weird gummy finish. Lingering malt stickiness & clumpy yeast. Atwater, pumping out them gems as usual. Super messy. dfinney23 (3246) - Houston, Texas, USA - JAN 8, 2015
Been digging all the Atwaters showing up in Texas lately. Pours dark amber with a finger of tan head. Caramel and sweet citrus. rougeau13 (2954) - Richmond, Texas, USA - DEC 28, 2014
Clear, dark red-amber with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel and sweet bread. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, and a tiny hint of metal. Medium-full bodied, slightly syrupy, and a little dry.
