Pours a brilliant clear copper color with a tall tan head. The smell is roasted malt, bread and tangy fruit. The taste is yeast, tangy fruit, roasted malt and a hint of chocolate all ending dry and crisp. The body is light and the carbonation is crisp, tight and refreshing. I’ve never been into dunkers so much but if they are like this one then I am now!

Day 3 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, bottle from the Rewe Bamberg shared on the train from Bamberg to Nuremberg, 26/01/14. Dark amber with a moderate off white head that retains. Nose is bready malt, toffee, brown sugar. Taste comprises grain, brown bread, malts, toffee, sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so Dunkels.

Bamberg Bash Day 3. Train swig. Almost clear amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Tangy malts, little dried fruits. Whispers of dark malt chocolate and smoke. Light dry finish. Interesting.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer aber schönen Schaumkrone. Geruch leicht röstmalzig, Karamell, minimal würzig. Geschmack angenehm röstmalzig, würzig, gering schokoladig.

Bottle from Rewe Bamberg drunk on the train to Brussels. Clear mid brown dark amber colour lasting off white head. Not the freshest smelling beer bit of musty malt. Some fruit. Not much hop on the finish. Dullish

Erzengel (8176) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - DEC 29, 2013
Test vom 7.9.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,12,11,12,11 - 11,30

On tap ( 0.5 l ) at the brewpub in Aufseß... Dark golden color, short head. Color is more like a Zwickl, not like a dark beer... Almost no sweet malt aroma. More Helles or Zwickl flavor than dark beer taste... Unspecial ending...

BeerViking (4401) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2013
Bottle from Sand Passage, pours a clear red-amber or mahogany with a clinging off-white head and aromas of dusty malt, cocoa and a faint hint of green apple. Chocolatey on the palate, but also nutty and dryish with a lightly winey character. Seems halfway between a typical Altfrankish Braunbier and a Munich Dunkel.
