Erzengel (9507) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - DEC 29, 2013

Wanja (772) - GERMANY - OCT 27, 2013
On tap ( 0.5 l ) at the brewpub in Aufseß... Dark golden color, short head. Color is more like a Zwickl, not like a dark beer... Almost no sweet malt aroma. More Helles or Zwickl flavor than dark beer taste... Unspecial ending...

BeerViking (5048) - Brentford, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2013
Bottle from Sand Passage, pours a clear red-amber or mahogany with a clinging off-white head and aromas of dusty malt, cocoa and a faint hint of green apple. Chocolatey on the palate, but also nutty and dryish with a lightly winey character. Seems halfway between a typical Altfrankish Braunbier and a Munich Dunkel.

stevoj (5588) - Boise, Idaho, USA - JUN 22, 2013
A dark amber to light-copper colored beer which looks excellent in the glass. Has a syrupy and almost smokey burnt caramel/butterscotch undertone, which strongly dominates every other characteristic of the beer. Decent dunkel.

Russo (2011) - Hemhofen, GERMANY - JUN 16, 2013
Dark red color, almost brown with a creamy white head. Aroma is malty and some nuts and slight chocolate notes. Flavor is sweet with hints of nuts and caramel. Mouthfeel is dry chocolate. nice one.

BlackHaddock (7696) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUN 7, 2013
Flip-top half-litre bottle BBD 4th July 2013: poured into two ’Hannan Alt’ tumblers at home on 7th June 2013. Good looking beer: toffee apple red/brown with an off-white head that tried to hang around. Semi-sweet maltiness in the aroma and taste: caramel and toffee notes coming through from the very start of the tasting. I like the sweeter brews so this was fine by me. Easy to drink and fairly well balanced: mini bitterness towards the end, but still one of the sweetest Dunkels I’ve had so far.

gunnar (9700) - Sandnes, NORWAY - JUN 6, 2013
Bottle from Rewe in Memmelsdorf.Pours almost clear dak amber with a small creamy white head. Aroma of yeast and sweet caramel. Taste is dark, earthy caramel, notes of bread and dough, good hoppy, with a smooth body, easy to like this one.

Very good Dunkel style beer. Strong head, deep brownish color, sweeter than usual, slightly sour before the end bitterness. Very well rounded.

RexTalionis (3802) - FINLAND - OCT 12, 2012
Draught at Gallow’s Bird, Espoo. Poured clear copper in color with a thin whitish head. Nutty, faint hints of butter and hay also in aroma. Flavour mostly nutty and perhaps some sweet chocolate also. Slightly hoppy finish. Medium carbonated. Pleasant taste over all and enjoyable to drink.
