Hybrid US/UK pale ale.
With an abundance of hops and a sweet caramel backbone, this is a true session beer. A grassy, nutty and flavourful malt body is balanced by citrusy hops and a touch of spice. Clocking in at 34IBU’s, this beer is just bitter enough to keep the hopheads coming back without being crushingly dry or astringent.

Note: Also available dry hopped as Augusta Ale Extra Hoppy (AAXH).

Papillon (426) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 4, 2012
473 mL Can. Yellow-gold body with a thin white foamy head leaving lots of spotty lace. Resiny hops dominate in the aroma with notes of grapefruit rind and crystal malt, and a hint of pepper. The flavor is a nice balance of sweet malts and resiny "grapefruit rind" hops with subtle fruity notes of melon and citrus. Nice bitter almost peppery hop aftertaste tapering off to a light caramel finish. Bold, yet refreshing and not too imposing. This is some top-notch ale

Cannette 473 ml. 5,5%. Couleur ambrée, mousse blanche, légèrement voilée. Arôme de sucre d’orge. En bouche, caramel, et houblon..malt. En bouche, malt crystal, herbes, houblon floral. Finale très légère amertume. Bonne Pale Ale.

This ale poured a med amber colour with a tall, bright white, foamy head. To the nose there are scents of spruce hops with a bit of citrus. light caramel malt and a little milk scent? First taste was smooth but flavourful with flavours of citrus hopps most prodominant. Medium bitter finish with hop lingering forever on the palate.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2013 Hoppy, but smooth with some caramel, malt and citrus notes. Clean aftertaste; mildly bitter at 34 IBU.Available at the LCBO.

[bottle at DwEEBs meeting] Metallic and sour aroma that is slightly enteric, with notes of cherries and base malt. Slightly hazy gold under lacy white. Slightly enteric and cheesy flavour with base malt, faint hops, and moderate bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation. Are you sure this isn’t a Trafalgar beer?

Note: 6+ /10

473 ml.

Can from the LCBO . Pours a golden orange with a bit of white head. Smell is sweet with a bit of a cartel hint and another hint of hoppiness. Palate is a bit high with average carbonation. Taste is a bit watery at first but then a bit of sweetness comes which quickly balanced by some hoppy bitterness. Not bad overall.

Metalchopz (3472) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 30, 2012
Single can at the Orleans LCBO. Pours a clean golden-amber colour with a foamy off-white warm cap that leaves a soapy top and lacing. Mild hop nose at first, but eventually, becomes malty with caramel, bread and fruit. Medium-bodied and kind of smooth. The hop is present in the taste as well, and mild as well. Adds grapefruit notes to the caramel malts and some nice light dryness in the finish. Pretty good session American Pale Ale, well-balanced between hoppy, but not too much. Overly refreshing.

Pours golden amber with frothy head from cans at LCBO. Aroma is light and taste has that good light bitterness with a smooth mouthfeel.
