Aroma of belgian yeast, banana and bubble gum. Also some herbal hops evident with some spice. Pours a deep burgundy with a tan head which doesn’t stick around for too long. Sweet toasty malts with dark fruit. Spices from the booze are upfront while the herbal hops take a backseat. Nice carbonation from the bottle conditions. Medium bodied. Pretty good but nothing special within the style.
Very good Belgian Bruin/ Brune, dark and rich in flavor, relatively strong. saintbase2 (824) - Bydgoszcz, POLAND - AUG 23, 2017

Pours a pretty big foamy beige head and comes to a thin coating. Leaves dirty lacing. Has a copper brown appearance with red highlights. Alcohol is almost immediately noticeable but followed up with some toasty and nutty malt aromas with notes of raisins and toffee. Flavours of dark roasted malts, caramel, toffee and more of the raisins with hints of resin and spice hops. Slick and drying sensation and a mild warming mouthfeel. Full bodied and fairly excessive carbonation. Pretty good overall, sweetness and bitterness well balanced. Lowenbrau (4471) - Asturias, SPAIN - AUG 4, 2017

Faint aroma, too much alcoholic - alcohol is not well hidden. Caramel and licorice. ForlornHope (533) - Hampshire, ENGLAND - APR 1, 2017
Bottle at home. This was at the back of the cupboard and about 18 months after the use by date - eek! What a pleasant surprise. It poured superbly clear deep red with a thin head. Really nice aroma: the malt is there with nuts and earthy hop, melded to a polished finish. Malt forward taste with very subtle bitterness to follow. Flavours of marzipan, baked fruits, hazelnut and leafy, herbal hop. The body is a bit thin, but this is a really nice beer that rewards keeping for a bit - I have been disappointed with these beers in the past as they can be awful but I’m glad I found this one. Bottled as some typical etiketbier from a local liquorstore in the Netherlands, where they try to sell you their own private beer as special, but in reality it is a 8% Augustijn Donker. Dark copper color, short frothy head. Aroma is slight spicy, some caramel, chocolate and butterscotch. Bit spicy in taste, bit dry, some sweet caramel. Medium carbonation. Decent beer ofcourse. Ah well, maybe it is better those etikettenplakkers buy a decent beer and label it with their own private label, than that they brew a horrible homebrew and sell it for outrageous prices.
