UPDATED: DEC 19, 2009 Draught. Bit of an odd one. Deep amber brew. Mild roasty malts, nutty, almost chocolate biscuit-like at times. Not too bad.

Bottle. Poured a medium brown with an amber hue and a thin light brown head. Aroma had notes of caramel and sweet bread with just a touch of a roasted undertone. Flavor was sweet with caramel and maple notes.

Excellent Dunkel by Augustiner. Poured into my Budvar tankered glass. From bottle as depicted here. Lovely smooth creamy head. Initial aroma of roasted malts, syrup and caramel. Medium-full mouth feel, lovely tinkle around the pallet, taste of caramel, syrup, roasted chestnuts. This is one I could definitely drink in the winter months. I paired mine with a steak and Japanese chilli poweder. Exceptional combination. I suggest steak; sausages and thick ham. Could do with ham and mustard dijon especially as the balance would be awesome. I really rate this beer. I love dunkel and this is the first time I’ve had Augustiner as a Dunkel. I really want to drink this in Munchen to see how it travels.

Bottled 0.5 L (of course). Dark brown coloured, thin head. Aroma of malts and rye. Very smooth flavour, biscuit, malts, rye. No problem at all to drink half a liter of this. Good Dunkel.

Ein mas vom foss ƑL in a dimpled mug) @ beer house in Munich. Dark body topped with a smallish tan head and no lacing. Not much aroma, but definite dark fruits, caramel. Mouth is medium with average carbonation. Flavor was lightly fruity with dried fruits, fairly dry, caramel malts. Wasn’t hard to drink a liter.

It is dark amber-brown with a red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, syrup and caramel. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of roasted malt, syrup, caramel, licorice and the finish is slightly dry.
