Draught. Pours brilliantly clear tawny with a medium, frothy beige head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is moderate toast, caramel and nutty malt with light earthy hops. Flavor is moderate and lightly sweet toast and caramel malt, light earthy hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle from a random shop in Berlin. Pours clear coppery mahogany with creamy white head. Aroma of toffee, metallic and nutty notes. Tastes similarily, soft (as in rather mellow) toffee sweetness most dominant. Soft and smooth on the palate, carbonation very fine. Perfectly adequate brew.

On tap at Marktwirt in München. Nice head and a rich sweet nose with hints of chocolate and some fruity malty notes. Taste also sweetish with malty notes and some light hops. Nice draft companion for Bavarian food.

I drank this beer at home, coming from the beer of the world, Zürich. It is what we could expect from a dark Bavarian beer. There is a perfect balance between sweetness, caramel, roasted malt and hop but it is not in excess. It is a pleasant beer with a nice red Thai curry.

Bottle from Bert’s Bierhuis in Utrecht, Holland. The beer is dark amber to brown colored and has a small and a little unstable creamy head, with enough carbonation. The aroma is malty, with tones of caramel, roasted malts, dried fruits and some nuts. Also a hint of cacao is noticable. The taste is malty and light sweet with tones of caramel, nuts and a little spicy bitterness is noticable. The finish is light dry and light bitter with fruit notes.
