Bottle, served by a rotund fellow at an Augustiner pub in the muddle of Munich. Poured quite bright and clear deepish orange despite the swirly bottle yeast thing, actually looked good. I never think of Augustiner and wheat beer, dunno why (guessing Michael Jackson in some book banged on about helles and neglected to mention to wheat beers), but this was quite decent. Wheaty, slightly sweet malt, estery apple, smooth.

Extra bebible.

Pint bottle brought back from Germany by Dave #4’s brother. Pours a highly carbonated cloudy orange with a one finger white head. The nose is wheat, spice and light esters. The taste is lemon zest, spice, dusty wheat and banana. Medium prickly mouthfeel. Decent.

Pours cloudy and golden with a thin, mostly maintained white head. Aroma is sweet, with fruity yeast, clove, honey, and banana. Taste is crisp wheat, spicy yeast, with a bit of clove. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with lush carbonation. Better than Hofbrau’s hefe, not as good as Lowenbrau or Ayinger.

Bottle from Carringtons, Chorlton. Hazy golden pour. Nose had something vaguely unappealing lurking within that didn’t exactly draw me in. Flavour was typically wheaty and had some vague fruitiness .Not bad ,just pretty underwhelming. Alright with a slice of lemon thrown in as a guzzler with a Chinese takeaway.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2012 (500ml Bottle) Ohh God justa very ’textbook’ Hefeweizen , a good pizza beer ,nothing to reflect.

Hazy orange/amber colored, decent white head. Aroma is bready and spicey, cloves. Taste is quite bready and biscuity, wheat, some acidity, cloves and spices, citrus, bready yeasty finish. Light to medium bodied.

Bottle. Near-amber colour with a loose head and a wheaty, clove and banana aroma. The taste is malty and toffee, and the finish slight bitter and citrus. This is a great beer, I love it, first came across it at the Augustiner Keller in Munich years ago. A very drinkable weissbier.
