Pours black/brown with tan head. Aroma is Smoke, dark caramel malts. Creamy taste, smoke, caramel, coffee grinds, licorice. Med mouthfeel and carbonation. erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - JAN 7, 2014
Black bodied, unstable head. Little aroma, not much character from the dark roast. Light malty taste, simplistic toast like malts. Short aftertaste, clean and active carbonation. Decent but doesn’t surprise, challenge or satisfy me much. (On tap at Frank’s hotdog restaurant) ClassyBeagle (376) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 1, 2013
FROM NOTES: November 27, ’13. Poured from a can into a snifter.
A: A very light aroma of dark roasted caramel, coffee like malts and a touch of earthy hop aroma.
A: Pours a deep brown with a finger of tan head that dissipates slowly.
T: Follows the nose, albeit a more simple taste than the noses suggest with roasted malt dominating (though not being over the top) and some chocolate in the background.
P: A medium body that is very crisp, clean, and dry. Easy to drink.
O: Perhaps the best schwarzbier brewed outside of Germany that I have ever had. WELL DONE.

Smell is light coffee and roast malt. Taste is cold coffee like. Thin to medium body with crisp carbonation and nice coffee flavor. Great for a lighter easy to drink roasty beer. JStax (7163) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - OCT 23, 2013
12 ounce can thanks to Errl. Pours a darker translucent brown with a big head of khaki foam that dissipates quickly. Aroma has notes of coffee, caramel, and roast. Sweeter, ashy malt profile. Light body and a smooth mouthfeel. madmitch76 (25519) - , Essex, ENGLAND - SEP 14, 2013

Lightly hazy dark red - brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft. Very mellow dark malts, quite creamy. Mild and pleasant touch of roast. Whisper of ester in the finish. All right.
Very nice beer pours with Lacey head and aroma of chocolate and licorice. Taste is silky smooth with roasty notes of chocolate and some smoke. Well done mmmbeer (1429) - Austin, Texas, USA - AUG 4, 2013
12 oz. can from Couch Potato Austin (novel but fantastic idea!) from a 6’er served in shaker- poured a near black with hearty darkened maroon shading when held to a light source, 2 finger plus head formed but quickly went away after some typing, smoking, and thinking. Aroma of various hops, dried dark chocolate, and a fairly roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt tastes like it was laced with molasses and a fart worth of chocolate- not complaining, just noting- middle has a touch too much sweetness for me, finish is lasting with a little bit of smoke. It’s works for me.
