COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oats. Cuvee Coffee. Alcohol. And we have liftoff! Like the sight of a comet, the appearance of Sputnik has the locals thanking the brewing gods. As Will says, we get all science on this shit. He has developed a proprietary way to introduce the coffee into the beer. Weve seen it happen and we know a stopwatch and monocle are involved. What happens is it opens up the aromatics without adding any harshness. You get an intense coffee aroma and bold flavor that perfectly compliments the silky oats and high alcohol. It will take your taste buds to orbit.

Wordsworth (147) - Austin, Texas, USA - DEC 31, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 25, 2015 Pours opaque brownish black with a loose white head that quickly disappears, followed by wet, foamy lacing. Aroma is heavy coffee, roast, and thats about it. Flavor is loads of coffee up front, caramel, bread, malt. Not a complex nose or palate, but a tasty seasonal beer folks in the region look forward to. A simple classic.

On tap at the Whip In in Austin. Thin super fizzy cap that immediately disappeared. Aromas of leather, coffee and licorice. Flavor is a Blast of expresso with leather and roasted malts. If you like coffee you will probably like this beer.

Tap at brewery. Pours black, little head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roast malts. Taste is coffee, mild fruitiness, raisins, faint chocolate and toast. Nice beer. Smooth mouthfeel, heavier body but still decent on a hot day. Really enjoyable.

Aroma primarily roasted coffee. Thick black pour with tan ring and no lacing. The taste is slightly and primarily coffee flavored. Full body and medium carbonation. Overall, aggressive coffee flavor up front which mellows on the back end while the high alcohol content is well hidden.

Pours a dark brown almost black with a small amount of tan head. Roasted malts, coffee, and raw cocoa on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more roasted malt. Not bad, a little thin though.
