COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Its all about the hops. In this case Australian Galaxy hops. Used in the kettle, the fermenter and in maturation to give a big hit of enticing citrus and passion fruit flavours but without too much bitterness to slow you down.

375 ml can as "Australian Brewery Australian Pale Ale" bought at Sogo Fresh Mart in Causeway Bay.

Looks:Clear light golden yellow with a cloud of misty yeast particles; Two finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 4 minutes; Beautiful sticky lacing with active, very slight carbonation.

Aroma: Fragrant Ale malt, with passion fruits, honey, citrus, floral, sugar, light spices, thick bread, lemon and fresh grass.

Taste: Light sweet Ale malt, with strong wheat, fair tartness, light grapefruits, floral, sugar notes, light spices, strong bread, lemon, mid to fair bitter hops and grass.

Body: Mid to light body. Slick and quite creamy palate.

Mouth Feel Good Ale maltyness in wheaty, creamy background. Grapefruits hops is rather modest, with floral and light spices back it up. Dry, low sweetness with fair lemon to round. Simple and easy!

Hoppiness: Passion fruits, honey, citrus, floral, light spices, lemon and fresh grass in nose. Grapefruits, floral, light spices, lemon and grass in taste; Bitterness is fairly strong for a lasting, medium astringent light spicy finish.

After Taste: Dry. Crisp, citrusy and quite bitter to mouth.

Comments: As APA, this one is simple but effective, with Galaxy's passion fruit aroma and citrus taste being moderate but notable when it counts. Good looks and head plus a wheaty smooth palate always helps. Easy, likeable and will buy again!

DOC: 1/18/17

2015 BJCP Category:18B American Pale Ale

AROMA: Lemon citrus aroma; slightly tart like lemonade. Minor background note of tropical fruit. Low base malt presence. 7/12

APPEARANCE: Huge white soapy head; cloudy pale yellow hue. SRM 5-7. 3/3

FLAVOR: Mild lemon citrus taste throughout. Slightly acidic and tart, especially in the aftertaste. Some background notes of tropical fruit, but not especially sweet or juicy. Bitterness is moderate. No specialty malt character, but beer doesn’t feel unbalanced. 11/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-light body; high carbonation. Refreshing, but with brief acidic aftertaste. Not particularly sessionable despite being only 4.8% ABV. 3/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: In the ballpark of an APA, but old can doesn’t do it justice. 5/10

TOTAL SCORE: 29/50

On tap at Rocksia Hotel, Sydney. Pours a pale clear gold with lingering white head that laces the glass. Aroma: Malts, citrus, earthy notes. Not aromatic. Taste: Citrus, malt, pine, earthy flavours. Very bitter. Bitterness dominates the palate. Easy drinking and pleasant. Not much going on apart from the bitterness.

Hazy pale golden, medium soapy head and sticky lacing. Aroma of mango, lovely. Thin to the palate, well carbonated, tastes of tropical fruits (mango and passion fruit), notes of lemon and very low bitterness. Enjoyable juice.

Can - Light earthy and spicy hops with biscuit. Clearish gold with a decent white head. Light earthy hops and a dry finish. OK, but I don’t really get the fruity notes, may be a bit old.

On tap at the Australian Brewery, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out biscuity malt and floral hops. Flavour is along the same lines, with biscuity malt and floral hops. Dry and clean, but forgettable.
