September 8th, 2013 - An Oatmeal IPA? Science has bred something gnarly here, but Iím curious, and so here on a visit to the wonderfully abbreviated BLAH I order a pint to give the cat-dog beer a try. The aroma is definitely ore hoppy than it is malty, kind of like New Belgiumís Ranger, with a resinous sweetness, and a bright, airy, mountain air freshness. The palate is buzzy, with a tamed hops touch. I also find a subtle taste of cantaloupe, or green melon, and probably both. I am surprised to find it here, but I like it. The tropical sugar is welcome here. I find much more evidence of the IPA than the oatmeal, but whatever ingredients went into this omni basket of goods, I like it.

Draught Good white head with nice lacerings. Dry hopbales, ureum, and lots of fruity notes, sultanas, passion fruit. Bitter, quite citrussy flavour, some dry malts lurking behind, dry cookies. Misses some balance, medium bodied, very slick. Bit unidimensional. We knew Lee loves hops. Wonder what this "commercial description" is supposed to be...

enjoyed during 2011 RBWG Huge thanks to Payitbybeer for bringing this to the tasting, nice to see beer for a good cause, and involving a great comedian! Pours hazy light amber with a medium white head. Aroma is insane, citrus rind, sweet tropical notes of pinapple, mango and grapefruit. Flavor is fairly light with toast, and big hop bitterness but the hops are more flavorful and fruity than they are abbrasive and bitter. Good stuff.

Growler generously shared during AZRBWG. Pour is deep amber with a white head. Aroma is sweet and grainy with notes of orange peel, tangerine and a touch of pine. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of toffee and earthy hops. There is a definate oat presence that makes this interesting. Overall body is moderate and sticky with moderate bitterness.

Bottle shared by Playitbybeer, thanks man. Why havenít you or Silky rated this! Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A sweet citrus nose, some grains. The flavor is a sweet rich IPA with lots of malt and grain balance, dry and earthy. Very drinkable. Glad I got to try this, the tag was awesome.

Thanks to kelsey for bringing this to saco_de_toroís recent gathering. We were outside on the patio in the evening, so the color was hard to tell, but this beer had a nicely balanced flavor of hops & oat
