Beershine (5253) - VANCOUVER, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 17, 2007
On tap at the Avalon Brewpub. A good effort at a hefeweizen and better than average for a Mark James Group beer. Also above average for a brewpub British Columbian wheat beer. Kaya161 (1142) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 20, 2003
This is the standout beer from Avalon for sure. Deep, cloudy, yellow colour. Banana aroma and mellow banana flavour to match. Lightly sprtizy, yet fuller-bodied for a hefe. Crit (4057) - Surrey, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 13, 2003
Cloudy amber, thin head. Yeasty nose. Yeasty citrus flavor................... Oakes (18851) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 3, 2003
Cloudy beige; crisp, wheaty, citric aroma (though they did serve it with lemon before I could stop them). Toned down banana compared to other Mark James hefes. Drier all round as well, with a decent bit of hop in the finish, and lacking the malty sweetness that Yaletown's hefe in particular has. Not a bad wheat, but a little different from what I expected at a Mark James brewpub.
