3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a very clear, dark brown, almost opaque. Small off white head. Aroma is soy, light molasses, and a smokey, funky malt. Taste is good roasted and burnt malt up front. Solid, strong hopping gives a big bitterness. Very light smokiness, nice touch. Finishes with a light cherry sweetness, malts linger. Medium bodied, a little chewy, about right for the style. Lots of good brewing going on with this beer. All the pieces are nice, but put together it was a little weird.
Bottle from my cellar.
The pour is dark, almost opaque deep brown with garnet highlights. Medium sized tan head.
The aroma has molasses and raisins and a touch of alcohol.
The flavor is sweet, but not cloying and follows the aroma. The alcohol in the aroma is hidden in the flavor. This has held up well. snoworsummer (5790) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - AUG 9, 2015
