The hallmark of Belgian Triples are fruity esters balanced with a dry finish that fall in the range of 7-9% ABV. And for this years 19th anniversary celebratory brew, we decided to create a stylistically perfect beersomething unusual considering our penchant for producing eccentric beers that defy styles or categories.

In excited anticipation of 20 years and the new brewery, we concocted this very traditional, yeast driven, dry and fruity Tripel.

Hop Variety: Bravo, Czech Saaz
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Wheat, Oats
Yeast Variety: Achouffe

Pours a bit thin... lacking much of a head and no real lacing, a slight suggestion of alcohol legs but thats about it. A smidgen of beading. Nose is nice and clean. Banana, clove, mango, syrupy fruit. Some nice yeast presence as well. Bready, peppery yeast, more banana, and a strange alcohol character that I wouldnt expect from the ABV. The taste unfortunately suffers from the lack of body. Overall, worth trying but not much else. Id love to try this one on tap sometime.

Had to fight like hell to get any head on this brew. Thin white head of fine bubbles with light carbonation. Frutiy aroma with some pears and lemons, yeast and hay. Color is a slightly hazy bright golden orange. Wow, delicious malts and fruit in the flavor reminiscent of some of the great belgian tripels. Lively mouthfeel from the effervescence with more pears, sweet malts, lemon grass and some creamed corn. Light alcohol presence and warming. Finishes grainy with a lingering herbal hops bitterness. A very good and very enjoyable belgian tripel.

On tap at Capones. Lightly hazy yellow color with a smaller sized head. Fruity, pears, apples, and spices. Tastes of the same fruitiness, spices, caramel, and yeast. Some alcohol in the finish. On the sweeter side.

22, capped and foiled. Pours a cloudy medium gold with a scant loose white film atop. Mild green apple nose showing dust and hay. Fizzy medium body. Toast, caramel, green apples, dust, and hay on the mid palate. Mildly acidic finish. Not too bad.

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2012 Tap pours hazy pale yellow with lacy white head. Mild aroma of grainy must and fruit. The taste is kind of simple and traditional, very yeast driven indeed but with a healthy depth of grain and hops. A lot of fruits, banana, nectarine, some musty lemony sweet character. Very good lightly herbal and scarcely dry hay like hop, a bit of a green grass and musty hay with the carbonation bringing out a small amount of balancing sweetness. There is a mostly wheat centric spice from the grain giving a nice warming touch while the alcohol is mostly mute. Solid tripel showing some roots from Avery.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a moderate white head. Has a terrible smell - like old cheese. But a nice light taste with the subtle hints of sweetness that I expect from the Belgian styles.

SPDickerman (1219) - Texas, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Pours cloudy, hazy yellow with a small white head. Smells bready and lightly fruity. Taste is mild, fruity, with a bready kick, yeast and wheat dominate this beer. Light-to-medium bodied with a slightly wet texture and less than expected mouth-carbonation, Avery Anniversary Nineteen finishes with some slight bread-like characters.
