COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The hallmark of Belgian Triples are fruity esters balanced with a dry finish that fall in the range of 7-9% ABV. And for this year’s 19th anniversary celebratory brew, we decided to create a stylistically perfect beer—something unusual considering our penchant for producing eccentric beers that defy styles or categories.

In excited anticipation of 20 years and the new brewery, we concocted this very traditional, yeast driven, dry and fruity Tripel.

Hop Variety: Bravo, Czech Saaz
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Wheat, Oats
Yeast Variety: Achouffe

UPDATED: OCT 3, 2012 Tap pours hazy pale yellow with lacy white head. Mild aroma of grainy must and fruit. The taste is kind of simple and traditional, very yeast driven indeed but with a healthy depth of grain and hops. A lot of fruits, banana, nectarine, some musty lemony sweet character. Very good lightly herbal and scarcely dry hay like hop, a bit of a green grass and musty hay with the carbonation bringing out a small amount of balancing sweetness. There is a mostly wheat centric spice from the grain giving a nice warming touch while the alcohol is mostly mute. Solid tripel showing some roots from Avery.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a moderate white head. Has a terrible smell - like old cheese. But a nice light taste with the subtle hints of sweetness that I expect from the Belgian styles.

Pours cloudy, hazy yellow with a small white head. Smells bready and lightly fruity. Taste is mild, fruity, with a bready kick, yeast and wheat dominate this beer. Light-to-medium bodied with a slightly wet texture and less than expected mouth-carbonation, Avery Anniversary Nineteen finishes with some slight bread-like characters.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow. Not much head. Nose is bubblegum, fruitiness, not much spice. Taste is much the same but with a hint of spiciness. A little sugary and thick on the body. Almost an hefeweizen flavor. Does not compete with the true Belgian triples and is just an average beer. The Avery anniversary beers continue to underwhelm-I’ve not found one since 14 that has stood out as an outstanding beer.

Silphium (3199) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - JUN 30, 2012
Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Hazy apricot body, thick puffy cream head. Estery nose with wet grass, clove, white grape, hints of bubblegum, and pear syrup. Nicely balanced. Dry, estery body with yeast bitterness, light fruits, clove, and hints of bubblegum. Floral with warming alcohol; vinous. Nice complexity and a pleasure to sip.

dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - JUN 29, 2012
750ml bottle poured into glass. Brownish yellow color with a slightly hazy center. Aroma has hints of citrus and yeasty qualities. Flavor is a little on the bitter side but still has some fruity qualities like lemon and orange. Not too bad.

SphinxTX (2875) - Mata Gorda, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with white, fizzy, soapy head. Aroma is yeasty with notes of tropical fruit, banana, some farmhouse. Flavor is medicinal (could be clove) fruity, banana, yeasty bread, light tartness, malty, some sweetness, a bit cloying with some alcohol spiciness. Mouthfeel is soft and medium-heavy with high fizzy carbonation. Overall, seems to be a bit of a mess, while it tasted ok, I just do not crave another one any time soon.

badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Bottle. Clear bright yellow with a fizzy white head. Crisp bready citrus aroma with strong overtones of skunky hops. Bready citrus, light sugar, grass, skunky hops, and hay flavors with a sweet finish.

csaso (2266) - Missouri, USA - JUN 28, 2012
Tap - small fruity head, hazy dark straw color, Belgian yeast spice and fruity aroma and flavor, dry and mildly tart, not bad
