Avery pulled distribution to OK a couple of years ago, so I picked this bomber up while in CO last week as I have been wanting to try this out. Glad I found it, this is a good one. Smells like some good bud, crystal clear deep orange, light white head. Well balanced and quite bitter with some biscuit girth. Good and strong like a DIPA should be, lingering alcohol finish though.

Muted hop aroma with strong malts. Cloudy orange color with a medium thick white head. Sweet flavor on top of a bitter base. waolsen (1376) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - JAN 29, 2016
Bottled May 2013. Beautiful pour glowing Amber with frothy lasting head. Aroma is earthy, a little wet cardboard and light fruitiness. Lots of life on the pallet. Earthy and woody. Bitter with unique bitterness. Good but not great. SudsMcDuff (8429) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - NOV 22, 2015
Had on draft in the half nobi on its release .. . deep gold amber .. medium head, lots of lacing .. . tissue .. dank, citrus, flowers, and sappy booze .. full and defined .. great beer .. . . Lately I go to the restroom at the movies, but forget where I’m seated then return & just begin a new life in a new seat with a new family. ChainGangGuy (4894) - Woodstock, Georgia, USA - APR 4, 2015
Appearance: Pours a crystal-clear, yellow-gold body with a solid inch of off-white foam up top.
Smell: Twenty is hoppy on the nose, smelling of guava, papaya and varied citrus fruits with underlying earthy herbaceousness. Sugar-coated pale malts underneath. Small shake of liquor gives a sense of implied warmth.
Taste: Honey and sugar-toned pale maltiness, a little sweetness of whipped syrup. In comes the tropical, charmingly citrusy hops while also being floral and a tad earthy. Moderate bitterness imparted. Lightly warming. Dry, bittersweet, fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation. The mouthfeel has a bit of stickiness to it.
Overall: Some sweetness, certainly some bitterness, a bit of heftiness and some warming alcohol. Falls a bit short of Maharaja. Bobblehead (65) - Kansas, USA - NOV 25, 2014

"When they say "what else?" I have to scratch my head. We actually wondered why a place that already makes one of the best IIPAs on the planet would make a beer for a 20th AV that is almost certainly going to be the lesser of the two. Sometimes it sucks to be right. Maharaja pees better beer than this. I don’t know how it’s a 99 on RB. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it’s inferiority to Maharaja (and even Dugana, and hell...I think their standard 6-pack IPA) is obvious. Why do that for a 20th AV celebration? Anyway, golden pour, nice hop aroma and flavor, decent bitterness, grapefruit peel and light spice. Bittersweet finish. Nice on it’s own, just not up to par. At 9% and not getting any younger, definitely a one timer." GenDV138 (7285) - Falls Church, Virginia, USA - SEP 3, 2014
From notes, consumed 8/1/2013. 22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Amber/orange with a finger of off-white head. Great lacing. Aromas of pine, resin, toasty notes, light booze, caramel. Tastes of malt, caramel, pine, resin, grapefruit citrus. Medium body with a dry and warm finish. Busick (390) - Lake Wylie, South Carolina, USA - JUN 20, 2014
What a delicious hop-head beer! Glad I was able to taste what is now a retired hoppy beer! TXBadger (2811) - Dallas, Texas, USA - APR 28, 2014
Pours a nice clear golden color with white head. Pine, floral notes, and citrus on the nose; follow onto the palate. Had a good mouthfeel, full-bodied. Finishes pretty clean. polomagnifico (1202) - Saginaw, Michigan, USA - MAR 26, 2014
Bottle. Aroma has notes of citrus and spicy pine hops. Good caramel malt backbone. Medium hazy orange hue with a white head that mostly diminished and left good lace. Flavor is very sweet and bitter. Palate is full bodied and oily with a soft carbonation. Overall a very good IIPA. Enjoyed it.
