Draught. Low white lasting creamy head. Slighly hazy orange body. Mild spicy and hoppy aroma and flavor with low carbonation and a long bitter aftertaste. 3fourths (9347) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 10, 2008
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2009 2008 GABF week @ Avery. Unfiltered glowing orange body with a white head. Nose definitely has taken on the wine barrel character - green grapes, blueberries, brett... reminds me of Bullfrog Beekeeper a little bit. Flavor is moderately boozy, has some light notes of white wine, but there is an unwelcome band-aid funk from the brett... lightly tannic... overall good but could be better. A poor man’s Beekeeper. BMan1113VR (7931) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 21, 2009
On tap at Stone Sourfest. Pours with a hazy golden body and a small white head. Aroma of leather, horse hair, brett, lemon and pineapple. Taste is somewhat sweet up front, with lemon, pineapple, apricot and exotic fruits. Medium to light carbonation. Would love it if Avery bottled some of their sours other than Brabant. Ernest (7697) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 13, 2008
Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Fest, Apr 08.
Head is mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers), moderately yeasty (horseblanket, barnyard), with notes of gum, lemon zest, wood, and band-aid.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic.
Quite a bit of Brett character woven into the other characters, which make this quite enticing to the nose. Very neat experiment!
