(Draught) Pours a dark brown (near black) body with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, grass, and caramel. Flavor of chocolate, grass, citrus, caramel, roastiness, and nuts with a dry, bitter finish. JoeMcPhee (9517) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 21, 2010
Deep brown pour. The nose is coriander with a distinctly herbal hop nose. A little bit of grassiness on the back of the soft cocoa. It’s lightly earthy and hoppy with a lingering hoppy flavour toward the finish. Chewy and lightly coffeeish. 3fourths (9357) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 12, 2010
tap. unfiltered dark brown body, rich toffee-colored crema. mocha, toffee, caramel, dates in the nose, low level of aromatic hops, medium yeast phenolics. silky and slightly sweet up front, moderately bitter across the middle, somewhat creamy and thick/hearty in the back. toasted grains, black patent malt, milk chocolate, etc. better than expected.

A fairly solid strong dark lager - smooth and creamy texture - sweet up front, with rich chocolate flavors - dry and roasty later, with a medium-low level of hop bitterness to compliment it - a bit of bright berry character near the finish - a couple of off yeast characteristics, but nothing major - lingering cocoa and hops - decent. Tap at Avery. Pours a deeper brown with amber notes and a medium bubbly creamy tan lacing head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate and toffee. Flavor of chocolate, toasted malt, caramel and sweet malts. drewbeerme (3920) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 3, 2010
Draft at brewery, pours brown with white head. Nose is piney, toasted malts, flavors have a big hop presence for the style, pine, grapefruit, with a charred chocolatey finish. Pretty smooth finish. Not bad. Pawola22 (3262) - Woodridge, Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2010
On tap at Avery in Boulder. Pours a clear, deep mahogany with a reddish hue. Finger-width, creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is soft roasts and bittersweet chocolate with some toffee, earth, and dark fruits. Flavor is similar with rich chocolates, caramel, and toffee, but plenty of roasts and earth. A bit of a dark fruit and a good amount of citrusy hops too. Dry and moderately bitter with a lengthy aftertaste after a smooth, crisp, light to medium body. Overall, a really tasty baltic porter. Well hopped with a nice roast to go with an easy drinking crispness. Nice. dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - APR 12, 2010
On tap at the brewery. A nice dark pour with an aroma that has the hoppy notes, as well as the roasted nut and chocolate too. Very smooth beer.
