3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is dark brown – no light penetrates the beer. Moderate tan head that last. Nose is a bit of funk with some underlying sweetness. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin with mild carbonation. Flavor starts with a nice tartness and ends with a bit of a sour/bitter note. Pretty nice beer.
Several years old bottle shared by alexsdad06 pour opaque dark copper brown with thin ecru head. Nose really nice, floral, powdery spice, raisin, light tart, and then good zinfandel. Taste bright up front, some red wine, light cherry or red fruit. Mid palate light funk, some oak, then tannin. Light light spice. Taste disconnected from the nose. Slightly watered down. jackl (8557) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAR 31, 2016
Sample from a rep @ Northern Lights. Deep brown pour with a small head. Plenty of red berries, forest fruits. Balsamic-soaked wood. A bit of barnyard and manure. Nice Belgian yeast character. Similar flavor. Moderately funky. Tart red fruits. Umami. Full body, oily. Nice. BuckeyeBoy (8861) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 3, 2015

Bottle, thank you to JohnGalt1 for bringing this, I’ve been wanting to try it for quite a while. Dark brown color with a thin ring of beige head, looks a lot like cola. Nose is mostly barrel and a bit vinous. Hints of the zin I guess. Taste is heavy barrel, lots of sour, and a little bit of sweetness. Lots of vinous notes, some brett. Complex. Thanks again Toby. UPDATED: JUL 11, 2017 12 oz bottle pour. Bottled in 2009. Much thanks to Tyler for sharing this. Pours a cola black with a short fizz head. Sour dark fruit and brett yeast aroma. Cherries too. Wild yeast flavor up front, and slightly tart, though it starts to sweeten up. Wine flavor from the barrel shows. Sweet cherry finish. Solid beer here. Unique, and seems to have aged very well. Hopefully I’ll run into this one again some day. UPDATE: enjoyed again over two years later. Thanks again T! Solid beer. A ton of wood, and wine notes. A little tart. Ton of Brett. Really good stuff tcon25 (981) - Duvall, Washington, USA - JAN 1, 2015
Bottle pour at home. Dark almost black pour, sour wine aroma. Slight barrel taste. Good beer. Love there barrel aged series. Keir (183) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 21, 2014
Bottle. Nose is sour, malty. Taste is really not that sour, a bit sweet and malty. Good, but not what I expected.

Very woody, musty, quite tart, and a bit of a kind of bloodiness or dirtyness to it, like iron or something else metallic. Weird beer but actually not all that bad.
