GAManiac's rating

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 13/20

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish brown with a tan head with pink hues. Head is smallish and recedes to a thin cap with spotty lacing. Aroma is very much like a red wine with plen Cabernet characteristics, but with some sweet sugary notes mixed in. Definitely some oak as well. Nt much Brett that I detect. More red wine up front in the taste with some sugar and yeast underneath. The finish is dry and earthy with a heavy red wine slant. Brett makes an appearance but is not as prominent as the wine. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with soft carbonation. Having just had the last barrel series, this one doesn’t quite stack up to the Muscat D’Amour, but it’s not bad. Definitely for the red wine lover.

12 oz. jan 2012. Lots of red wine. Red grape. Lots of oak. Slight funk. Very little sour.

Tasted on 11/16/13 from a capped 12oz bottle at our Avery Barrel-Aged tasting. Pours a beautiful clear auburn with a thin off-white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is just like a Cabernet, with plenty of pyrazine, and very oaky with a bit of funk and malt. The flavor is almost like drinking an old world pyrizinic Cabernet, very funky and just a touch of malt, plenty of oak. The body is full and very tannic with a long fruity and funky Cabernet finish.

Sour grape smell. Nasty alcohol and red wine taste. I wasn’t a fan of this one at all.

Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2, a huge thanks, and a welcome change after a week in Germany. Hazy deep amber maroon color, tan edge head. Aroma has vinous vanilla, cherry, plum. Taste is fruity port wine, lots of barrel, vanilla, tannins. Really delicious.

McNeillR (2315) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - NOV 28, 2014
Rich bright vinious red, headless. Warming wine nose, juicy. Similarly excellent initial taste, soft and cherry plum tartness. Chummy mouthfeel, very easy going mouthfeel without being overly rich or tart. Finishes a soft tartness.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy reef brown with no real head. Aromas of sherbety funk, red wine, barrels. Taste is red grape, musty, woody. Sweet sherbety finish. Odd, but good.

Bottle thanks to Rick. Pours a cloudy amber with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong funk, wood, and grape. Medium mouthfeel with nice tartness, oak, funk, dry finish. Very good.
