Another huge thanks to Armin! Bottle pours deep burnt ruby with an off-white head. Aroma reminds me of a freshly dumped Lodi Zin barrel (including the slight alc twinge), even though I can definitely get the Cab presence. Notes of black cherry, raspberry, caramel, plum, tobacco, and oak. Flavor is tart with additional notes of vanillin, pepper, and a definite red wine presence. Overall body is moderate, tannic, and the finish is dry. I know that a lot of people don’t seem to be "fans" of this one, but I can really appreciate what they accomplished here. This one really blurs the lines and boundaries of beer/wine.

Tasted on 11/16/13 from a capped 12oz bottle at our Avery Barrel-Aged tasting. Pours a beautiful clear auburn with a thin off-white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is just like a Cabernet, with plenty of pyrazine, and very oaky with a bit of funk and malt. The flavor is almost like drinking an old world pyrizinic Cabernet, very funky and just a touch of malt, plenty of oak. The body is full and very tannic with a long fruity and funky Cabernet finish. Bottle courtesy of BeerandBlues2, a huge thanks, and a welcome change after a week in Germany. Hazy deep amber maroon color, tan edge head. Aroma has vinous vanilla, cherry, plum. Rich bright vinious red, headless. Warming wine nose, juicy. Similarly excellent initial taste, soft and cherry plum tartness. Chummy mouthfeel, very easy going mouthfeel without being overly rich or tart. Finishes a soft tartness.

Bottle thanks to Rick. Pours a cloudy amber with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong funk, wood, and grape. Medium mouthfeel with nice tartness, oak, funk, dry finish. Very good.
