COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dank u wel for all the help, Gast! Its been very relevant! An expansive Flanders-esque blend as complex, assertive, an infectious as its namesake - although quite a bit more acidic and less injury prone. Proost! 67% ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, 17% ale aged in bourbon barrels, 8% ale aged in rum barrels, & 8% ale aged in Chardonnay barrels.

Thanks to Errl for sharing this bottle. The beer pours a reddish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is full of toffee and sour cherries, with some nice red wine notes thrown in for good measure. The flavor is extremely sour with a lot of sour cherries and sour red wine character. I also get some oak and a hint of rum. There is also a light amount of sweetness. Medium mouthfeel and low carbonation. A very nice sour.

12 oz bottle shared, purchased at Mr. Bs Wine & Spirits. Reddish brown and clear in appearance with a fully dissipating head. Aroma of wine, dark fruits, esters, tart sour notes, oak and light vanilla. Similar flavor, vinous, fruity, tart and sour with mild barrel notes and hints of bourbon and alcohol. Medium body with soft carbonation, a puckering mouth feel and an acidic sour finish. This has age quite nicely.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks arminjewell). Looks solid; a cloudy dark amberish brown with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells malty and oaky with a moderate acetone presence alongside notes of vinegar. Tastes like it smells with a mild vinous presence as well. The acedone is fairly hidden when cold, but comes out as the beer warms and opens up. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full-bodied. Not good.

Bottle thanks to Tom. Pours a clear copper with no head. The aroma is dark fruit, vinegar, wood. Thin mouthfeel with very sour vinegar, dark fruit, wood. Good.

From notes. Tasted some time near the summer of 2012 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear dark brown with an average white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is super sour lemon vinegar with nice toasty chocolate malt and some dark cereal. The flavor is the same sour attack up front, moving to the dry chocolate malt. The body is medium and quite tannic with just under average carbonation and a long, very sour and toasted malt finish.

12oz bottle thanks to BeerandBlues2. Poured a light hazy ruby color with a small tan head. Aroma was notes of brown sugar, light acidic notes. Flavor was light dark fruits, tart sour cherries, touch of rum and bourbon notes in this one. Alcohol was nice and mellow, tartness was tasty. Light vinous notes.

"3500 baby! This sour ale was significantly sour and acidic, as most of Averys sours have been. Dark malts and all kinds of barrel complexity, all complementing the base beer. Some vinous notes from the red wine, and more bourbon presence than the others, though Im sure wed be able to tell if they were absent."

Bottle from Tap & Handle. Pours dark brown with a tiny beige head and a sour fruit aroma. There is a magnificent sour brown flavor with a lot of substance and a lot of sour. Almost, but not quite puckeringly sour.

Hmmm....judging from the recent ratings seems to be some bottle variation on this one. Cellared at 50 degrees since release from brewery. Cap comes off with a puff....thick pillowy slowly fading head. Great carbonation. Sour wood, red fruit, red wine barrel on the nose. Tart red fruit (cranberry, currant), pineapple flavors, lemon tartness, and red wine elements. Delicious stuff.
