COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No. 15, much like a certain fabled two-piece candy bar of our youth, rich, dark chocolate notes accented with aromatic toasted coconut. What would add depth and character to this already delicious combo, we wondered? The answer is time (6 months) well spent in the very best rum barrels available.

Bottle from Ratman. Pours nearly opaque black with a small, fizzy tan head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is chocolate, roast, and coffee malt, coconut, dates, figs, earthy and spicy hops. Flavor is malt dominant, moderately sweet, coconut, spicy alcohol, dark fruits, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and light carbonation.

Thick brown colour. Big beer, surprisingly not boozy. Lots of rich chocolate, with coconut in finish. Must be shared. Thanks Jason Bach.

Bottle thanks to Will. Pours a dark brown with paperthin beige head and small yeast floaties. The aroma is strong boozy chocolate and faint coconut. Strong chocolate and coconut, oak with nice roasty boozy finish. Very good.

12 fl oz bottle. Bottled June/04/2013. Courtesy of deyholla. Thanks Derek!
Black colour with a small red hue and no head. Little white things floating in the glass. Mild sourness, toasted malt and dark fruits in the aroma. The flavour is very strong maltiness. Extremely sweet. Incredibly sweet.

This is a beast! Nice oily black pour with floaters. Coconut heaven mixed with fudge and rum. Oh my!

Bottle... Pours cloudy and brown with no head. Smells like ethanol or vodka with hints of both rum and vanilla, and a faint toasted coconut component. Full-bodied and slick with tingly carbonation. The flavor is quite sweet and very boozy - brown sugar, dark rum, vanilla and toasted coconut. Considering the spirited aroma, I expected big alcohol here, but not so much - as long as I sip slowly. Bottle courtesy of landhoney!

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2013 Bottle @ home, thanks to Steve_0 for grabbing me some bottles @ the release! Pours a black appearance with cola-like tan bubbly/carbonated head that dissipates within a few seconds. A fair amount of white coconut particles stick to the edge of the glass along with some alcohol legs. Boozy, spicy, alcoholic rum really are the first impression in the nose. Also some dark chocolate, coconut, vanilla, and a moderate sweetness in the aroma but its honestly quite boozy. The flavor, while very hot and boozy, is reminiscent of a Mounds bar with a ton of dark chocolate and coconut. Some cola, caramel, and cake notes but mostly just coconut and chocolate. Really a lot of residual sweetness with a ton of brown sugar that almost amounts to a goopy syrup. My throat and mouth really got coated in this goop which lead to a seriously sweet aftertaste. Not as boozy as you might expect from 17% abv but its definitely pretty fucking hot. Pretty one-dimensional and in all honesty, I think the goopy sweetness bothers me more than the booze. In all fairness, this shit will definitely get you buzzed quick. Update: tried again with six months age and is a bit smoother yet still super sweet.

Bottle thanks to the Dood! Pours near black with a deep brown head that dissipates quickly and completely. Aroma has notes of raisins, dark grains, bitter chocolate and a bit of coconut. Flavor is extremely sweet with coconut and sweet chocolate with a hint of roasted malts backing. Overly sweet.

355mL thanks to minorthreat. Flatter clear deep brown. No foam. Legs in their place Woah buddy. Nose reminds me of the Schorsbrau ultra eisbocks: extreme twizzlers candy, starchy, chocolate rum mixed cocktail. Taste is sticky red twizzlers, starchy movie theater cheap candy. Cloying, sticky to the max. Nothing about this says coconut porter. Why was 17% desired and why did people want it?

As it warms, it gets more soy saucy in taste. Sticky to the max. Undrinkable really. Why?

12oz bottle, big thanks to adnielsen. About 5 ounces in a snifter that had been sitting in my fridge after I quit on it the night prior following a huge tasting. Dark brown color, clear around the edges. No head or lace. Smells pretty awesome. Dark chocolate, big nuts. Moderate roast, light rum influence in the nose. At this point, completely flat, no shit. Big body, lightly chewy. More dry finish. Big sweet taste, light rum, some spice, big brown sugar. Bigger sweet taste, some noticeable sweet alcohol. Moderately spicy alcohol warmth, but for the 17%, its in check. Pretty amazing. Nice light rum, but I enjoyed the rum character much more in Rumpkin. Much less sweet in that one, too. Maybe this is too desserty for me? Im not really a dessert guy. The level of alcohol in this is really impressive, but I cant say the same for too much else about this. Much preferred the Uncle Jacob and the Rumpkin. Happy to have tried this, though.
