COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
No. 15, much like a certain fabled two-piece candy bar of our youth, rich, dark chocolate notes accented with aromatic toasted coconut. What would add depth and character to this already delicious combo, we wondered? The answer is time (6 months) well spent in the very best rum barrels available.

12 oz bottle shared with Tmoney99 and wihorock. Pours a clear cola brown color with a small off white head that disappeared quickly and floaties. The aroma and flavor have big sweet caramel, chocolate, rum barrel, the coconut is subtle but noticeable, light woody, the rum works well with the coconut, caramel and chocolate.

12oz bottle, big thanks to adnielsen. About 5 ounces in a snifter that had been sitting in my fridge after I quit on it the night prior following a huge tasting. Dark brown color, clear around the edges. No head or lace. Smells pretty awesome. Dark chocolate, big nuts. Moderate roast, light rum influence in the nose. At this point, completely flat, no shit. Big body, lightly chewy. More dry finish. Big sweet taste, light rum, some spice, big brown sugar. Bigger sweet taste, some noticeable sweet alcohol. Moderately spicy alcohol warmth, but for the 17%, its in check. Pretty amazing. Nice light rum, but I enjoyed the rum character much more in Rumpkin. Much less sweet in that one, too. Maybe this is too desserty for me? Im not really a dessert guy. The level of alcohol in this is really impressive, but I cant say the same for too much else about this. Much preferred the Uncle Jacob and the Rumpkin. Happy to have tried this, though.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark brownish black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought big notes of sugar, rum, toffee, some slight coconut, chocolate, roasted notes, more sweet sugary rum in there as well, with some vanilla. Taste is a big sweet mix of rum, coconut, milk chocolate, and vanilla, mixing into slight roast, spice, hints of dark chocolate as well, finishing sweet, boozy. Think this will get better over time.

9/VIII/14 - 12Fl. Oz. bottle from a trade @ home - BB: n/a, bottled: VI/4/13, 283 cases (2014-902) Thanks to hackobock for the trade!

Clear red purple beer, small beige irregular head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive, chunks of what I suspect is coconut in the bottle. Aroma: lots of dark chocolate, caramel, gianduja,. MF: ok carbon, full body, bit sticky. Taste: sweet, very sugary, lots of coconut, sweet, bit artificial, lots of caramel, some raisins, ripe banana, little sourish, alcohol. Aftertaste: lots of caramel, vanilla, bourbon notes, sugary, hint of citrus, mocha, sweet malty base keeps coming through. Very decent stuff!

355 ml. bottle split by 3 @ Memorabel Tastingkje. Thanks to tderoeck! 2013 Vintage. Pours black with no head. Flakes of coconut underneath cap. Nose is crazily alcoholic as is the whole beer, we had a 16.45 % ABV Avery beer right before this one & it was nowhere near as boozy as this one. Pure booze in the nose, harsh with thick chocolate syrup underneath, very sweet rum, brown sugar, vanilla, very thick & syrup-like. Wowza this is boozy. Taste is very sweet, brown sugar, chocolate syrup, molasses, toffee, thick malts, prune, plum, date, vanilla, thick black chocolate, booze kick, thick rum, pure booze kick, wowza, thick syrupy creamy body, soft carb. Fun but sort of overkill as well. To bad that I didnt get any coconut in here but it is probably too old for that now. Great stuff all the same, brutal.

Bottle to snifter (thanks dudeabide). Looks good; cola with razor-thioff-white lacing. Smells solid; coconut and rum with dark malt notes. Tastes like it smells with. A nice, smooth mouthfeel. Good beer!

This is a syrupy, sugary mess. Pours like syrupy oil. Black without any head or lacing. Extremely sweet finish. All milk chocolate with some light coffee. Like molasses. Bottle pour at Churchkey feature event.

Bottle thanks to Ratman. Near black hued body with a tan head and menacing legs. Aromas are of raisin bran cereal, deep toasted malts, dark fruits, toasted coconut, fudge cocoa, rum barrel, marshmallows and a boat load of alcohol, smells like an intense and decadent experience. Flavors are big boozy, rummy and sweet. A bit of an odd and sugary, sweet then metallic transformation. I wish there were some bourbon tannins to balance things out. Its boozy, its sweet, but nice coconut and rum flavors carry it well. Some milk chocolate character. Viscous, and alcohol heft/ sweetness dominate the body. Super drinkable (haha, no, not really), but as expected its a punch to the palate. Overall: flavorful, nothing off, ethanol sweetness, wish their was more balance through a bourbon like tannin.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Mark. Thanks, dude. Much appreciated. Pours a rich deep blackish brown hue, well hazed darker body with caramel brown glow, cocoa and gentle deep reddish glow. Darker, blackish brown body is thicker, some legs on the swirl, touches of reddish brown glow on the edges. A more loose tannish head stays as a frothy small layer, sits atop as a mellow film, thicker ring sticks around and laces ok. Aromas are potent, showing bbiscuits and toast, toffee and cocoa.Shaved and toasty coconut meet warmth, oak, some vanillin and brown sugar. Spirity warmth, Cocoa, sticky toffee and chocolate chip cookies, a bit thicker and full, sweet. Some roastiness, warm barrel and Rum elements, firmer coconut as it warms a bit moroe. Initial is fuller bodied, sticky sugary caramel meets a good deal of dark fruit, milk chocolate, cocoa, and toffee. Rum, brown sugar. More vanilla extract, oak, and warmth starts to hit. Firmer ooconut, cooked and shaved, gentle toastiness as we hit the body. That weird dark fruit sticky sweetness that comes with stout/porters that get too big for my personal tastes. A bit sticky, toffee and vanilla, more coconut as we turn that corner. The nose really settles into a more enjoyable coconut flourish feel. Sticky fuller body is a bit syrupy up front. But tapers and thins a bit from the barrel into the backend. This backend shows the coconut at its firmest, oak and gentle spirit, chocolate chip cookies. Finish is a bit thinned, a bit warm, the Rum isnt overpowering and certainly this rich, huge body does stand up to a spirit barrel that usually easily overwhelms. A bit toastu, lingering coconut and vanillla, sweeter elements. Again, it gets better into the baackend and finish but its still a beast. That front end and middle are a but syrupy. Nose is really nice at times, a bit cloying at others. An interesting beer, hard to drink more than one and honestly I couldnt even get past half of the bottle. Share this. While its a bit too much by yourself, its certainly worthy of a try and is an impressive experiment worthy of a solid score.
