Bottle... Hazy burnt-orange pour with a fleeting, off-white head. The aroma features notes of caramel, wood, funk and acetic acid - pickle vinegar. Full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is heavily sour with a moderate amount of tannic abrasiveness and bitterness. I’m not picking up all the residual sugar others are picking up. Not at all sweet to me. Citric acid and acetic acid components rule here. Finishes tart, but then also a touch sweet. So, there it is, but not at all an intense or cloying sweetness. Doesn’t taste or feel like the big beer it is. Lingering lactic acid sticks to my tongue. I like it. I’m pleasantly surprised. Bottle courtesy of ctipping! Poured from a 12 oz. bottle at the Avery 23rd Anniversary Party. Dark, reddish brown, with a small beige head. Lime, brown sugar, cinnamon, light booze and oak. Sweet, light bitterness, and nicely tart. Medium to heavy body, syrupy, sticky, and a bit acidic. Quite a nice, mellow sour. Complex and aromatic, but not aggressive.

Boozy, tart, funky aroma. Poured a "dirty" copper color with suds for head. Flavor is a balanced tart funkiness with woody rum boozy rounded finish. Quite nice.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs; thanks arminjewell). Looks solid; a semi-transparent amberish brown with bubbly beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells Flanders-esque with notes of fruit, oak, and rum alongside some mild to moderate tartness. Tastes like it smells, but much more tart/lactic. Still good though. Mouthfeel is medium full-bodied and pleasantly acidic. Slightly warming in the belly, but the abv is hidden well. Good beer. magsinva (1493) - Virginia, USA - NOV 28, 2015
Bottle from ?? - I’m not loving this one. It’s very unbalanced with the rum, tartness, green apple, and beef jerky. DiarmaidBHK (6187) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 28, 2015
Bottle from unknown place. Pours dark, dark brown with a thin khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Fair amount of the rum barrel on the nose. Lots of rum on the tongue with a bit of the wood along with the tartness from the Brett. Finish lingers a bit. Not my favorite beer from these guys. ctipping (2309) - Florida, USA - OCT 12, 2015
12 oz. bottle. Deep reddish amber. Small khaki head. Smells rummy, funky and oaky. Acetic acid aroma. A little bit of diaper. Taste is all over the place. Strong vinegar sourness. Rum, oak, and vanilla. Very sweet. Vinegar sourness builds into the finish with a dry oaky aftertaste. Heavy and overly sweet. Medium carbonation. Spectacularly unpleasant sour.
