Aromas show off a lot of the barrel influence; caramel, vanilla, & spice. Rum flavors dominate, giving a lot of caramel & molasses sweetness up front; some spice & roasty notes follow, but the alcohol heat is all over the finish. Syrup sweetness lingers for a long time between sips. It warms up and gives off a smoky, savory note as well. Medium-to-full body, sticky, & hot. Sample at the "Black Friday 01" tasting on 01/22/2016. The beer pours an opaque brown-black color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate and rum. Full-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, coconut, rum and chocolate. The finish is boozy with a rum and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

In a blind I would maybe peg this at ten. I believe this is now the strongest beer I’ve ever rated. Pours black with a tan ring head. Heavy barrel vanilla aroma. Aroma is sweet and lightly spicy rum, brown sugar, toast malt, prunes, figs, and raisins with chocolate.
