12 oz bottle shared, purcahsed at Mr. B’s Wine & Spirits for $12.99. Clear ruby reddish appearance with some flakes of sediment on the bottom. Aroma of red wine, grape must, funky yeast and light sour notes. Similar flavor, vinous, musty, funky and lightly sour. Medium body with a lightly tart, light puckering feel. This didn’t age as well as I’d hoped, but it’s still pretty tasty overall.

Bottle thanks to the Nielsmaster ! Pours a ripe burgundy color with two fingers of pink foam that sizzles out quickly. Nose is vinous tannic grape skins with ripe berry, some earthy moss and a hint of cedar. Palate follows with lots of vinous influence. The sweetness balances out the acidity nicely and a soft carbonation keep the mouthfeel full but not sticky. Alcohol is well hidden, tannins integrates nicely. Soft vanilla layers, hint of cocoa, boysenberry and cranberry. Tasty Brew !

Sample from a bottle at the Avery 23rd Anniversary Party. Dark, clear, purplish red color, with no real head. Strong red wine character, with some lemon juice, brown sugar, cardamom, and brown sugar. Sweet up front with a strong, relatively mellow tartness. Medium body, a bit vinegar like, slick, and lightly acidic. This is a fun, vinous beer.

Looks like something between cranberry juice and red wine. Aroma is grape juice and red wine. Taste is a very juicy red wine but without any of the red wine dryness. Reminds me of the red sangria my wife drinks at Coopers hawk.

Tasting at Matt’s; bottled Dec 4 2014
Dark amber color, clean, small head. Sour aroma, woody, with a note that reminds me good aged meads, and a fruity note of cherries. Good body strength, lean mouthfeel, well defined sourness, with a well defined grapey fruitiness, and a hint of balsamic vinegar.
Excellent.
