Bottle shared by alexsdad06 from 2010 pour opaque black with minimal tan head. Nose earthy, slightly sour, soy sauce, then some toffee, molasses, raisin. Taste kind of all over initially. Some red fruit, then powdery mineral chocolate. Slightly metallic. Sweet comes through mid palate through the finish. Some chocolate late. Hint of rum throughout. Tasted on 11/16/13 from a capped 12oz bottle at our Avery Barrel-Aged tasting. Pours extremely dark brown with some very light tan lace. The nose is very oxidized and nutty, lots of dark roast, coffee, and some vanilla oak. The flavor is all about the vanilla oak, some oxidized nutiness, very dry molasses, and a touch of something sour. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long roasted and vanilla finish. I remember hearing about bottles of this being infected, and this was likely one of those, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as it could have been. my last bottle of this. hope this is one of the good ones as they have been iffy. solid black pour with a minimal dark grey head. strong alcohol nose, you can tell there is something rum related even if you haven’t seen the description. a shit ton of milk chocolate in there too. even with the boozey nose this is inviting. thin body, slightly acidic tartness in the rum dominant flavor. chocolate comes out weak and late in this. this is not one of the better bottles. i’ve had some over the years i would rate high 3’s, but this isn’t one of them and overall there were more misses than hits on this particular experiment.

All of the first 10 from the series were shared by craftbeerdesign. Black pour with ruby edges. Smell was biscuity, toffee, cocoa. Taste showed a slight cherry tartness that made for a very interesting experience. Thick dark malts, ripe fruitiness, sweet and dark chocolate, toffee. Great thick oily palate. Bottle from Buckeye Beer Engine in Lakewood, OH. Bottled on 1-13-2010. Very dark brown oily looking pour. Minimal head. Aroma is tart cherries and mild oats. Moderate palate - thinner than the appearance would suggest. Quite tart on the taste. Pretty good initially but its starting to wear a little thin as I get futher into this glass. Thanks to Tony for bringing by a brew I had never heard of. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured black and oily with a medium sized foamy very dark brown head that faded fairly quickly but left good lacing. The aroma was a pleasant mix of toasty malts, anise and hints of coconut and chocolate. The flavor was sour and tart cherries and berries followed by lactic acid and faint chocolate syrup.
